We had the good fortune of connecting with LaMarquis Letchaw and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaMarquis, how do you think about risk?
I think of risks as a necessary element to self development. I was raised understanding faith; faith to me is deciding to humbly follow through on my beliefs without knowing the status of the intended outcome. Which is truly a risk. There would be no chance to evolve or progress without risking that faith. Risk is as small as operating against your fears. In this journey of life, in our careers, we risk patience, trust, love, time, and our desires. It took awhile for me to take a chance, but once I did, the fulfillment behind overcoming the risk made me feel like a superhero. Now when I feel complacent or in a space where I’m settling in my businesses, I return back to the security in sourcing the butterfly feeling in the risk it took to create a new business opportunity. It will always be a risk, until you make it happen. Give it to God and He will handle the rest.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Quisine began as a meal prep business for dietary conscious eating. Our goal was to provide flavor you need, prepped for ease. With my background, I knew I wanted to enter into the food & beverage industry. Following that vision, I was able to secure contracts that enabled the business to cater on-site at corporate offices, large event spaces, or special occasions. I don’t recall many meal prep companies venturing into catering services, meanwhile hand delivering individual orders for food. Just having the opportunity and ability to scale the business in itself keeps me up at night, its super exciting to find different formulas for success. I am extremely happy that I am able to extend this service to others for healthy food alternatives. My ambition never allows me to find an overall happiness until I feel like I have accomplished everything in my vision. My dying desire to reach full completion makes it hard for me to ever relax. Configuring Quisine to be able to sustain the workload I would say is not always the easiest. Work/Life Balance can be hard at times, but for me it’s not about ease. It leans more on setting a standard and never settling for just enough in all my parts of my life, relationships, business, and spirituality. Being able to lead and remain dedicated has helped me overcome the entrepreneurial trials. The 5 P’s has been a major yet helpful learning curve, Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance. If I could help the world to find one constant about myself and Quisine, it would be that I will always find beauty in the struggle and that a ceiling is always as high as you build it. Challenges in the company has always consisted of overcoming the situation to be better for the next opportunity.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In 2022, I’ve had like over 70 friends fly into DFW to party and experience this Texas lifestyle. On Tuesday we celebrate our love for Tacos at Vidorra in Addison. Wednesday nights, we attend Lava Cantina in The Colony. Friday, we catch happy hour at Happiest Hour in the Harwood District of Uptown Dallas, then we transition into StiRR in Deep Ellum they have a rooftop club and bar. Saturdays are for Brunch, DFW is known for its array of style for brunch. I particularly like Kitchen & Kocktails, not only is there food just AMAZING, but the music choice, the ambience is top notch. A second option we love for brunch is RH Rooftop, be mindful there is no alcohol service on the property. We need steak for dinner on Saturdays, I prefer Eddie V’s, but my friend group likes to attend Perry’s Steakhouse in Uptown. My favorite place to visit for an evening out is Musume, an asian fusion cuisine with a speak-easy club, ‘AKAI’ attached to it. If I am looking for a club scene, Citizens Nightclub is going to have your upper echelon access with frequent celebrity guest appearances and top notch DJs. To complete our week, we begin with brunch of course at Lawry’s The Prime Rib, featuring complimentary unlimited mimosas. “Sunday funday” is a city-wide mindset so usually wherever we land is going to be fun. If it’s NFL season, we like to hang out and catch the games, Cowboys’ games are always a must. If we just want to celebrate with fans Texas LIVE is right next door to the stadium, and this location is a like a mall of sports bars and live concerts. So this is how I keep attracting my friends to visit, we always find a good time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Coming thus far has been an amazing ride. I believe being available to accept criticism of all kind has increased my pace for growth. My Uncle Corey who is Tyler Perry’s personal chef during his movie sets, has provided me with an enormous amount business knowledge to operate a full fledge catering company. I owe a lot of my abilities to him. From a young age, observing my mother in the kitchen I believe has granted me the talents to create very unique flavor profiles. She instilled me with the courage to pair different food ingredients which helped intertwine the creativity in options in expanding my palate. Love you Mom. My mentor Bo is always providing me with motivation and new ways to innovate processes, super thankful for his continued guidance. Before I met my fiancé, the real boss behind all of this; I was very stuck on books by Jen Sincero. My two favorites that I feel have catapulted my business sense are, “You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life” and “You Are a Badass at Making Money”. Super great reads, I highly recommend them. My Big Source Energy and subconscious guidance, God, is the only one who has made any of this possible, I’d be nothing without him. For the Sauce to my drip, thank you for being the realest teammate and partner. I love you.
