Meet Lahoma Dade | Event Producer, Consultant, & Wedding Planner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lahoma Dade and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lahoma, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started my business, I was terrified. If I am honest, I am still terrified but if I am going to bet on anyone, I may as well bet on myself. I started a business because I realize that other people were getting paid for the support and services I was offering for free. The turning point for me came when I helped a friend from church with her wedding for more than a year. She was elated and gave me the biggest hug and said “God Bless You,” but then turned to the DJ gave him a $3,000 check. That’s the moment I realized that I should start charging for the work that I do. I didn’t jump into entrepreneurship right away, I started with building my business while working my full-time job, once my side hustle started being more lucrative than my day job, I made the leap!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Events Unleashed is a luxury boutique event production, consulting, and wedding planning firm based in Austin, Texas. We intentionally seek to serve marginalized, underserved, and under-represented communities. Our services extend to a wide array of clients from non-profit organizations who need results-driven and actionable approaches to fundraising for direct support services in marginalized communities to major corporations creating immersive experiences to culturally infused weddings. Our jam is the place where passion and purpose collide in service to others.

We are proud to partner with our clients to execute events and experiences that have raised more money during a pandemic than ever before. We are proud to have earned our client’s trust and commitment to allow us to provide strategy, production, and support to serve the Central Texas community and beyond in meaningful ways.

Events Unleashed success can be attributed to our strong commitment to continuously improve what we do and how we serve our clients. We’ve learned some valuable lessons along the way, specifically navigating the systemic issues related to the target demographic that we serve. We want the world to know that Events Unleashed will take the simplicity of events, consulting, and wedding planning to make a major splash at creating seats at the table.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Everything good and perfect in my life comes from God first and foremost. There are so many people that have helped me on my journey and I would need a book with endless pages to thank everyone from my mom to my amazing friends and mentors. There are a few people that I will share, beginning with Shavon McNack-Watley. Shavon lost her son in a tragic drunk driver accident and sustained life threating injuries that have kept her from being 100% but you would never know all the hurt and suffering she does/has endured with the way she loves, supports and encourages everyone around her. Shavon is a angel on earth with a heart of gold that I have had the privilege of calling my best friend since 1999.

There are two women who gained their angel wings sooner than anyone could have hoped or imagined, Chioma Jennifer Ebichi and Judy Kassaye, both of these women taught me to LIVE, LAUGH, and LOVE. They lived their life with the love of the Father on display at all times and I will forever carry these women in my heart.
