We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyanna Virgil and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyanna, how do you think about risk?
I always say that the WIN you want is on the other side of that risk you’re scared to take. Risk by definition is: a situation involving exposure to danger, harm, or loss. A lot of people don’t take risk because they are afraid. However, being afraid only leaves you with regret and a bunch of ‘what if’ scenarios. I refuse to live with remorse. My entire life I have pretty much been a risk taker. Some risks were as small as dyeing my hair in middle school or running for class officer in high school. The biggest risk of all was quitting my job at the peak of a global pandemic and moving across the country. Though most risk have worked out well in my life and career it didn’t come without sacrifice. Being a full-time entrepreneur has been a scary journey, but I have learned so much about me and the world around me. It started from one huge risk; one seemingly simple decision has changed my life forever. My faith is strong. My relationship with God is so strong. I was able to step outside of my comfort zone and trust myself, trust my vision, trust my intuition. I am not afraid to take risk simply because I can never lose if I bet on myself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It was not easy to get to where I am now. It took a lot of time, dedication, and consistency. I had to truly find out who I was and what I loved before I could be successful at anything that I pursued. Overcoming challenges by trial and error. I’ve come to find out that there is no way around the trial-and-error period. Learning early from your mistakes may minimize the number of errors, but you will always take a loss to some capacity. I had to learn to grow from those experiences rather than let them consume me and build doubt in my mind. Because even the slightest hint of fear can throw you off course. Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m still learning Dallas as a fairly new resident, but I have found a few gems in the city. First things first BRUNCH! A few of my favorite brunch spots my bestie and I will have to check are SNOOZE, Ellen’s, Henry’s Majestic, or Paridiso. Next on the list would be Shopping at The Galleria or Outlets, because who doesn’t love retail therapy. Early morning Hike at the Nature Preserve or trip to the Botanical Garden’s. For dinner we would visit a few of my favorite spot’s Felix Culpa, XOXO Dining Room, True Kitchen & Cocktails, Glorias, or Avo Eatery.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this firstly to my mom & dad, because without them I would not be the amazing women I am today. I dedicate this to my sisters and brothers who have always believed in me. To Pastor Sarah Jakes-Roberts who’s encouraging words guide me during hard times. I also dedicate this to strong women entrepenuers all across the world; you inspire me to keep pushing!
