We had the good fortune of connecting with Krys Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krys, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of The Shifted Woman is authenticity—both in my healing journey and how I show up for others. I created this brand not from a place of perfection, but from pain that transformed into purpose. Every product, post, or program is rooted in real-life experiences—grief, growth, mental health, faith, and those silent battles women carry.

What’s made this brand resonate is that I don’t pretend to have it all together. I give women permission to heal out loud, to be in progress and still powerful. And I think that raw honesty, that space for both softness and strength, is what has allowed The Shifted Woman to grow—not just as a brand, but as a movement.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work is rooted in healing, storytelling, and helping women give themselves permission to grow through what they’ve been through. I’m the founder of The Shifted Woman, a movement and brand designed to support women who are healing out loud and shifting on purpose. Through digital products, guided journals, faith-based resources, and empowering content, I help women confront their pain, rewrite their narratives, and step boldly into the next version of themselves.

What sets me apart is that I don’t speak from theory—I speak from experience. My brand was birthed in a storm. I lost my grandmother, my dad, my nephew-son, and my sense of stability all within a few short years. I’ve faced grief, job loss, homelessness, betrayal, and deep identity shifts. But I didn’t hide it. I documented it. I turned it into purpose. That honesty and transparency are what draw people to The Shifted Woman. It’s not just a brand—it’s a mirror and a map for women who want more but don’t know where to begin.

I’m most proud of the fact that I didn’t give up when everything around me told me to. I kept showing up—for myself first, and now for thousands of other women who see their story in mine. I’ve learned that healing isn’t linear, and purpose isn’t always pretty. But if you’re willing to do the work and stay soft in a world that tries to harden you, you’ll make it.

It hasn’t been easy, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Every loss, every shift, every breakdown helped build the woman I am today. I want the world to know that The Shifted Woman is more than content or products—it’s a space for women who are ready to take their power back, one shift at a time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit me in Dallas, oh we’re doing it right. We’re starting with brunch at Yolk or Bread Winners—because food is a love language. Then maybe a little self-care moment with a spa day or getting our nails done at a cute spot in Uptown.

We’d definitely do a shopping trip to NorthPark or Legacy West, followed by dinner at Kitchen + Kocktails or XOXO Dining Room—because aesthetic and good food are non-negotiable. One night we’re hitting up a rooftop like Sky Blossom or catching live music at The Freeman.

We’ll mix in some downtime too—maybe a stroll at Klyde Warren Park with coffee in hand or a visit to The Black Girl Magic Museum. It’s all about vibes, laughter, and good energy. I don’t do boring trips—when you visit me, you leave fed, inspired, and full of memories.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s no way I’d be where I am today without a whole tribe of love, grace, and guidance behind me. First and foremost, I have to shout out my late grandmother, my dad, and my nephew-son. Their lives—and even their loss—planted the seeds for what became The Shifted Woman. They remind me daily that purpose can be born from pain.

I also have to give the deepest thanks to my mom and my little sister. They’ve been my safe space, my biggest cheerleaders, and my constant reminder that I’m never alone—even when life is heavy.

Therapy has been a game-changer for me, and so has the beautiful circle of friends who see me, hold me, and pour back into me when my cup is empty.

And of course, there are two books that have truly shifted me: You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay—and the ultimate book of life, the Bible. Both have walked with me through seasons of doubt, grief, and growth, and continue to be my compass.

The truth is, this journey may have my name on it—but it’s never been a solo mission. I’m standing on the love, lessons, and legacy of every person who helped me heal, grow, and keep going.
