Meet Kristine Baugh | Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristine Baugh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristine, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
My hometown is New Castle, Pennsylvania, just outside Pittsburgh in the rust belt. I witnessed the heartbreaking impact the closing of the steel mills had on an entire population. My parents grew up during the Depression, lived through World War II, and knew hardship yet never complained. They showed me, though example, the importance of family, hard work, and frugality. They were generous, kind, and beloved by everyone lucky enough to know them. Dad was an entrepreneur and the hardest working person I’ve ever known. This background gave me the skills to be prepared for any contingency, the knowledge that kindness is a strength, and the realization that “a working class hero is something to be.”

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I call my employment history my past lives. I’ve been a musician, public relations director, editor, real estate broker, and mortgage executive. The one constant has been my life as a vegan. Cinnaholic’s vegan business model obvious fit for me. When the Richardson location suddenly became available, we jumped at the opportunity. My daughter was one of the first employees at the store and knew how to run the bakery, and I knew how to run a business, so we rehired most of the staff and reopened within weeks. Having had “past lives” in other industries translated nicely into all aspects of forming, operating, and promoting the restaurant. Every day is exciting because I get to introduce customers to delicious vegan desserts they might not have otherwise tried.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a homebody, but I enjoy taking out of towners to the Dallas Museum of Art, the Arboretum, and Bishop Arts District for shopping. For food, I recommend Spiral Diner and Nuno’s. I prefer smaller, casual eateries and hanging out at home. Of course, dessert from Cinnaholic is a must!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family.
