We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristene Newton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristene, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor of my success is definitely; mindset change. It’s telling myself that yes, customers matter, yes, working hard matters. But at the end of the day, a mind that is set to be successful no matter what life brings your way- good or bad- that you will change the outcome. To push thru the noise and negative things life can bring you and make it happen. It’s important to change your mindset to achieve another level of success. It took me several years to realize this.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
These past few years have been a very trying and exciting time in my professional career. As hard as it has been to help start a brand new business and develop a new brand, it’s also been very rewarding seeing my career achieve new heights! I thought seeing my friends and my husband and son on HGTV, and see The Newton Home Group name go across the tv screen a few years ago was going to be my biggest highlight. Little did I know what the future held! We knew we wanted to see more, we knew we had a vision, and I knew partnering alongside our friends with the same mindset, we would venture into a new territory and would be successful. We started selling and creating this idea of what we all felt we could bring to the community and to the industry for a new venture for the tiny home world. I knew with my background of sales and design, my husband with his background of sales and finance, and our business partners with their many years of storage and short term rentals background, we could create an amazing new venture. The creation of a new tiny home community called Liberty Tiny Village with a dealership and dealer license next door to it for luxury designed tiny homes called Liberty Tiny Homes. We began pre-selling on a small piece of property and some land we sold to our friends about 5 years ago, not knowing what this would be. Just a dream. We were under dirt piles for what seemed like a year. As they began developing and setting up the business and licensing, we began pre-selling and I began designing a few houses in the middle of what looked like a pasture!! As I decorated in the middle of 105 degree weather, I wondered if the risk was worth the reward! We all were thinking this same thing!! But the four of us could envision what the future held and we would pray over the property and the people working it as we went along! As I began decorating and designing, I had a friend that was pushing me to create a TikTok account. I started creating content around the homes and the designs and my decor and the finished product…as I started prepping for Liberty Tiny Homes social medial account, and then started Tiny Home Designer TikTok account, I noticed that we started going viral, one here, and then another video there.…and then things just blew up! I’ve gone viral multiple times now and one in particular with 10 million views in just a few days. In less than a 3 months I had over 77k followers and almost a million likes and climbing! People loved what I have been doing to these cute little tiny homes! It’s our designs that set us apart. We made luxury tiny homes that are livable and pretty and ready to move in! And now we have a village to put them in and we ship our homes nationwide! When TikTok contacted me with an exclusive invitation for content creators and viral sensations- I knew we had made something great! It’s been a wild ride in a short amount of time. It took a while to get this going and a few of us wanted to quit within a few months of starting it! And although we are still in our beginning stages, and celebrating our 1 year anniversary, we have loved seeing people fly in from all over the country to come see us. We love the feedback and response!! It’s been a real eye opening experience to see that people love the product we can create.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love The Star and Grandscape in Frisco and The Colony! I know people push Downtown Dallas- but I say nah- come a little north! Thats where it’s at! So many new things to do and new and exciting restaurants like The Glen and Dee Lincoln, and Worldscapes spas, and the new PGA Headquarters! It’s been exciting living near it all! Plus, our Liberty Tiny Home Village is 20 minutes from all of this, so it’s a fun day trip to come view some cute luxury tiny homes near Dallas!!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is to my husband and also to my friends and family. I call them framily, because it’s the friends that become like family. Both have seen my highs and lows and still continued to push and support and encourage me when I felt like quitting at times. This is by far one of the most important things to my success, otherwise I would have been in my head too much. They humbled me, they supported me, they lifted my head to see what could be. I saw the down sides – but they helped me view the positives to the work and to the vision.
