We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristen Ridout and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristen, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk taking is so important. It helps you grow as a person and business. I worked on my own within my business for a year. I realized I needed to take the risk of hiring someone to help me alongside projects and grow with me. It was a risk I was nervous about at first. I am thankful I did because I have an amazing team of women.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Gracefully Nested was founded after years of feeling overwhelmed by things within my home. I started decluttering, donating and selling items that no longer were needed. When I started my journey, I was a full-time stay at home mom who found her passion but didn’t know it until later years. I wanted to help other families because I felt the success from my own home which is one huge reason I started my business. I am most proud about turning my passion into a way to help others.
I took a leap of faith and family support I get to where I am today with my business. It hasn’t been easy. I have learned a lot about myself personally and what it takes to turn a successful business. I definitely didn’t do it alone. Remember to take time for yourself and family even when building a business from the ground up.
When I am not decluttering or organizing, I am cooking, working out or outside. I love being with my family and creating new recipes.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my best friends come to visit you can find us at the McKinney farmer’s market, shopping around downtown (I love a good antique shop) then brunch after somewhere in-between McKinney and Celina. I love showing them around North Texas and the new places that have opened up nearby. We will probably go for a walk around the neighborhood in the morning or evening because I am obsessed with walks. End the day with a glass of wine on the patio at home.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First my family, they’ve been my rock from the start of my business. They have supported me through every step from the beginning. My lead organizer who has been with me for 5 years she has taken on many roles within my business which has been a huge blessing. And lastly, I couldn’t do it without my amazing clients and referrals. I am so thankful for you and your support over the years.
