We had the good fortune of connecting with Kirstie Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kirstie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was a finance major in college — ready to enter the world of asset management — when I sat in an upper-level marketing class daydreaming. I had recently purchased a camera and was practicing taking pictures by having my friends model with their horses. During class, I realized that there was a hole in the equine photography market. As a horse lover and equestrian myself, I felt there was a place for a very boutique, high-end photography experience catering to women with their horses. Shortly after graduation, I started my business on the side of my full-time job in finance. Within several years, the side business grew at an unsustainable rate where I had to choose which career I wanted. Needless to say, I went with the job that had me playing with ponies at sunset.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am an equine photographer and educator location in North Texas.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I like to take my friends on “food tours” of the best Tex-Mex, BBQ, and local hang outs!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband!! He helps me with EVERYTHING!
