We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimyette Jenkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimyette, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Kim Michelle Styling was created in 2016 to bridge the gap between customers and the lack of composing styles and designs they truly desired. To Inspire and create a passion in those who long to have an appeasing wardrobe. To help those overcome their fashion fears and don’ts. To bring out the inner them to create an outstanding glow, from their overall interior decor as well as wardrobe that they never envisioned themselves.

I wanted people to see styles as way to create their voice and give it a tone that sets them apart from others. To see themselves as canvas and style a paintbrush daring them to be raw and authentic.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Kim Michelle Styling didn’t get to where it is today in doing wardrobe, interior ,personal styling from not taking risk but embracing them and emerging out of our comforter zone. I knew early on that if I wanted to be successful as a stylist , I had to be okay with failing. It was simply away of learning how to do something better and new. To take things to a new height to truly grow and strengthen and sharpen my skills.

I have always been a person who gave a plan and plan for that plan lol. Because if something didn’t work out I had another way to try and succeed. I was never shy of try again with style , prints, fabrics ,concepts of ideals and knew if I am going to be here long term it was important to know how to pivot and shift. Because the right shift at the right time could put me on thr trajectory I needed to be on.

With Kim Michelle Styling we are “Where Style Knows No Barriers “, because we aren’t afraid to push boundaries beyond their limits in our wardrobe, interior and personal styling. This is what sets us apart, it wasn’t always easy, the no’s ,who you think you are, your not ready or capable , allowed me to get stronger, strategize and that failure may simply be an arrow leading us in the right direction of succeeding. Lessons as truly beliving in oneself, that noise is an outside interference that is envious because you refuse to let it in. We encourage the unknown limits of styling . To create one , own tone ,style ,voice and poise you must be willing to see style as the muse and design as the canvas.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Greenville Avenue in Dallas, they have everything you could imagine, shops, restaurants something old, something new , borrowed you name it. Every food selection you could imagine they have it . It’s one stop shop with many little neat hidden gems that you will always find something new and exciting. From music, movies ,bakeries, concerts you can have your cake and eat it too!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is dedicated to all those who were told they couldn’t , shouldn’t, wouldn’t. Those brave enough to risk it all for a dream , a vision that wasn’t a conference call, but a calling to welcome the fear, the doubt, the noise ,lack of recognition that came along with believing in oneself and vision. Those who were brave enough to chase, run and dare to fulfill it, for dream and vision they couldn’t let be deferred.
