We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Kenney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe the saying “no risk, no reward” is very true. In starting Ranch 82 I had to completely step out of my comfort zone. I had been presented with a great opportunity and was so grateful. When you have a lot of risk, determination and the will to succeed are extremely vital.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my wedding planning business in 2005 and then my floral business in 2007. I had completed over 900 weddings as of 2018 and formed so many valuable relationships. I got to travel the world and had so many amazing experiences.  The opportunity to open Ranch 82 literally fell In my lap. Of course Weddings are the most common type of event we host, but we also host Quinceanera’s, Birthdays, Anniversaries, Corporate Events and other functions as well.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The town of Whitesboro is growing tremendously. I have met so many wonderful people and have been able to get involved in the Chamber of Commerce and other organizations. In North Texas everything is growing and I’m so excited to see the growth in the future. We have some very good local wineries and a cute downtown area with boutiques and some wonderful food options. Whitesboro is also home to the annual Peanut Festival which is a huge event for the public. At Ranch 82, we have gotten so much support from the community and continually host functions to encourage the interaction of the immediate area and surrounding communities.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents have always encouraged me to pursue entrepreneurial ventures. Also, peers in the wedding industry were also so encouraging. I had no idea if going outside of my comfort zone would work and Ranch 82 opened right before the start of the pandemic which was devastating. I remember going back behind the building and sitting by the pond just praying we would make it. But we pushed through and thanks to the help of family and friends who pitched in we are busier than we could have ever dreamed.
