Meet Khalil Walker | Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Khalil Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Khalil, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
I really have a passion for music and do this for fun. I drop new clothes randomly just love doing what I do. My end goal as an artist is to really change the sound of music and everyone perception on it. I want everyone to recognize my new sound and to don’t be afraid to step out the general sound of music. I want to push the boundaries and really impact the whole world with my music. I eventually want to start spreading positivity in my music. I don’t mind where I am at the end of my professional career long as I get to do what I love and create more art. I would like to start a new genre of music and put Dallas Texas on the map.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started taking music seriously when I was 15. I was using drugs heavily and experimenting with music. That’s how I found my sound. I never made music for others to listen to but for me and my ear. I wasn’t afraid to step out the box but as I got older I sober up and learned how to make music sober. It was rough at first but adjusted to it. Music just sounds different and I catch vibes easier when I was on drugs. It seems like people love my drug music more than my sober music. I think they crave the trippy sound and my off the wall rap flow. I also was raised on a lot of different music which is why my music sounds the way it does. I got to where I am professionally by fully being me and having no care in the world. You can’t let anyone change your art but you can paint a picture and let them perceive your world. I got here by having fun smiling doing what I love. You just have to be you and everything will fall into place. It really wasn’t easy from dropping out of college to getting med boarded out the military. Iv learned so many lessons on the way that shaped me to be the man I am today. One lesson I learned is to be in your own world, do you, and don’t look at anyone as completion. Everyone moves at there own pace and sometimes have to take breaks. I got deployed into combat in Iraq and still made time to produce a beat and record a song. I truly think that has never been done before literally recording in a tank. I also learned being patience is key. I want the world to know that I’m a good person and want them to see the positive bright side of me. I want to paint a bright happy picture that gives joy to everyone. I want everyone to know what I been threw while on this journey from spiritual awakenings to my military career. I also want everyone to know that I’ll never stop, I will keep progressing with whatever I do to clothes, music, etc.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My top spot in Dallas is deep ellum. You can always catch me out there skateboarding or getting some drinks. I grew up downtown so the vibe is just there. There is endless places to eat out there from sushi to pizza. I would also say check out some of the skateparks downtown to. But downtown has endless places, bars, restaurants i would say just take a walk get lost out there and adventure it’s a lot of fun.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My story is crazy I have been deployed to Iraq still making music. There’s is many people to give credit but so far it’s only been me and my craft. I havnt had no help no management nothing. I use to produce my own beats, record my own music, mix it, and shoot my own visuals. I literally push my art as if I have a whole team working with me. People use to hate but that’s just Dallas, it’s no support out here. I started to see more people supporting as they could see my vision coming into reality. Couple of years ago I tried to start a team of friends but that quickly went downhill when everyone wanted to fight instead of working together. Since then I have been traveling on this journey alone. I would like to give credit though to my family for letting me be me and friends for supporting me.
