We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Meyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevin, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
Legacy is something many talk about but few truly grasp. If we’re being honest with ourselves, we’ve all imagined what people would speak about us when we’re gone. But few realize that legacy isn’t granted at birth or magically established when we die. Your legacy is determined by every decision you make on a daily basis.
It’s no secret that some days, we don’t want to be doing what it is we’re doing. Some days we’re tired. Other days, we lack motivation. Sometimes, life throws a curve ball at you and attempts to throw you off course. But each day is an opportunity to either build up or break down our legacy. Growth doesn’t always mean winning; often, it means facing failure, learning from it, and pushing forward. Acknowledge that failure is a powerful teacher. Learn from your mistakes. Course correct and keep your eye on the prize.
When my time on this earth ends, I want to be known a hard worker. Someone who moved towards the challenges and embraced the grind. Someone who put family first and lived intentionally to advance God’s Kingdom. A legacy isn’t built in one moment; it’s built in every moment. And when all is said and done, I hope my life reflects the dedication, love, and faith that defined it.
What should our readers know about your business?
Soccer Stars is the nation’s most popular children’s soccer program for ages 1 to 12+. Our goal is to help children improve their gross motor and soccer skills. Our coaches create a fun, non-competitive, and educational environment to ensure children develop self-confidence and physical literacy in every class.
Unlike traditional leagues, Super Soccer Stars places emphasis on skill development rather than competition. This non-competitive approach allows children to focus on improving their individual skills without the pressure of winning or losing. By removing the competitive aspect, kids can enjoy the game, learn at their own pace, and feel a sense of achievement regardless of skill level.
Being successful as a business owner has not happened overnight. As most entrepreneurs know, you have to have determination each and every day to get through all the challenges that business owners face. Climbing to the top of the mountain isn’t about reaching the top, it’s about the journey. It’s about what you find inside yourself during the difficult times. If you can have a positive mindset during your adversity, and you can adapt to the disruptions, you can conquer any challenge put before you.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the outskirts of the DFW area! First, let’s go the the McKinney Square! That place has everything you need – Comedy club, cigar lounge, bars and great food like Harvest and Local Yocal. Head over to the the Fort Worth Stockyards to run with the bulls and enjoy the exciting Texas nightlife! If you like seeing high end cars, take a trip over to Legacy West and grab a table at one of their awesome restaurants like Haywire. If it’s football season, go watch a Cowboys game at AT&T Stadium! Make sure to stop by Texas Live beforehand so you can grab some good eating and have a drink before the game!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is dedicated to my supportive wife, Chelsea and my three children, Aubrey, Easton and Everett. They motivate me to work hard and grind everyday!
