Meet Kevin Lewis Jr | Musician, Sports and Entertainment Reporter, Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Lewis Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always been a person that loves to control his own narrative. I don’t like being told what to do, when to do it and how to do it. I feel like God didn’t bless me with my creative skills and talent to be told what to do for 8-10 hours a day. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t mind working to pay the bills. I’ve had plenty of jobs, but I know being an everyday worker for a company that’s not mine is not my calling. When it came to actually starting Dope Kontent Entertainment LLC, the vision really kicked in once I started getting media credentials to different events and networking with other media members. At first, my goal was to network with some of the bigger names in hopes of getting a job with them and their company. After talking to a lot of them, I realized that we were all really in the same boat and instead of working to join their companies, I can just produce and monetize my own content under my own umbrella. So, Dope Kontent Entertainment LLC was started.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My company is a sports and entertainment company that gives you the best updates and interviews from professional athletes, musicians and artist around the world. We stand out because of our versatility. We don’t only cover sports. We cover music, wrestling, entertainment and fashion. We even provide you with an online shopping market for your household needs and more. We give you multiple entertainment options. We deliver our content in the form of podcast, live streaming and articles. It’s definitely not an easy task covering all of this mostly by myself. So, I’ve been slowly interviewing and building a little team to help take some of the tasks off of me. I want the world to know that we are just getting started and they should jump on the bandwagon before it gets too full. We already have a partnership with the XFL and WNBA for the 2023 season. We also have a partnership with MLO clothing and Rogue Energy Drinks. We’ve had grammy nominated artist and musicians, professional boxing champions, NCAA football athletes and High School State Champion MVP’s join our shows. This summer will be a hot one when it comes to our upcoming guest. Stay tuned.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can’t start the shoutout process without thanking God himself for blessing me with life and the gifts he has blessed me with. I want to shoutout my mom and stepdad for raising me to be the man I am today. They never stopped me from pursuing any dream that I had as a kid and as a young adult. Shoutout to my grandparents and my uncles for always supporting me. My granddad gives me a hard time sometimes, but I know it’s because he wants the best for me. Shoutout to my true friends who have always had my back. They know who they are. Shoutout to my kids for being my motivation in life. Shoutout to everyone who has told me no and the ones who laughed at any of my ideas. You guys are extra motivation as well. Last but not least, huge shoutout to my lady and best friend Jennifer. She has been so supportive of what I do and a huge energy spark in my life. Anytime I’m having a bad day, she is there to keep me focused and is there to keep me from giving up.
