We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Elayan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
It has taken me some time to hone my craft as a barber and find a sound balance between work and life. I believe it starts with a healthy mind and body. My balance is achieved with a proper work out regime, a clean diet and a good mind set. I honestly don’t think about balance it just comes with my calm focused nature. My barber shop brings peace to myself and my clients. It’s a place where people can feel good about themselves and share their thoughts and ideas openly without judgement.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is Stag Head Barbershop it was established in 2017, in Toronto, Canada. I have recently relocated to Texas to establish Stag Head here in Arlington. It has been the best decision to move back to the US, my place of birth and to bring Stag Head here.

Stag Head barbershop is a place where you feel at home as soon as you enter our shop you feel welcomed. My vision for my shop is unique. Every where you look you will find something different that catches your interest. From the antique barber chairs, to the prominent Stag Head adorning the wall above the antique cash register, to the two large oak barrels smack in the center of the room, it has taken me years to build Stag Head into what you see today. A lot of lessons I have learned along the way and if you come into my shop I can share them with you.

Stag head, is a place of quality grooming with 20 years plus experience of barbering. We care about how our clients look and feel.
I love barbering because you connect with people, building relationships of trust and mutual respect. Many of my friends I have met sitting in my chair. You get to know people and share a sense of community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since I’m new to the area as well. I have been exploring Texas on my own seeing the different vibrant cities and what they have to offer. One of my favorite spots is the recent discovery of Elmer W. Oliver nature park in Mansfield . Since I’m a nature guy this a complete haven. A place to connect to nature. A nice long walk through the winding paths will re-focus and energize you.
After the walk you can go to Fattoush restaurant located in Pantego, and have a excellent Mediterranean dish. One of my favorites is Lamb Kebab with a mango smoothie.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to an author that I have read for years, Neville Goddard. His profound knowledge has shaped my way of thinking and helped me understand who I am. One of his quotes that resonates with me is:

“If you will assume your desire and live there as though it were true, no power on earth can stop it from becoming a fact.”
