We had the good fortune of connecting with Keryon Jay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keryon, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
That depends on how much love you have for the craft. If you feel good doing whatever it is you are doing then keep going. Things always pay itself off if you put enough love and time into it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Originally this started as just a fleeting interest, but it has slowly been growing into a more integral part of my life. It was not easy, especially with comparing myself to others and getting into my own head. The way I got passed it was by staying in my lane and letting my work speak for itself. I would like the world to know that my form of photography is free and fun where I let the freedom of the moment be captured to tell its own story.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m more of “go with the flow” type of guy so the places I would take them would be places I’ve either heard of or been to before. A few places to eat I love are The Porch, Ninja Ramen, Shake Shack, and Hopdoddy Burger Bar. Entertainment wise I Love music so I would take them record hunting at either Josey’s records or CD warehouse. Klyde Warren park and Deep Ellum to get good vibe for the city and be able to get some steps in. I can’t pass up a good stroll through the Dallas Art Museum or the Dallas World Aquarium.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I want to thank God for giving me the ability to do what it is that I do. Second, my family and friends who have always been my support group and pushing me to be more consistent and never letting me sit still too long. Finally, to the fellow photographers I’ve met and befriended along the way and I’ve used as inspiration.
