We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenny Bowers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kenny, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think risk taking is important in life, if you don’t take risks you can not accomplish much. “Growth begins at the end of your comfort zone” However, risk must be calculated and managed. “no good oil man ever takes 100% of the deal” You never want to put all your poker chips in the middle of the table because you never know what can happen. If risk is managed, even if you strike out its not a death sentence, you get up, lick your wounds and move on to the next deal. But if you risk everything and whatever it is does not work, it makes it very difficult to recover.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Nothing really came easy. A great man once said “you cant fail if you don’t give up” We have gone through many difficult times but if you have a vision and you really, deep in your heart believe in what your doing and you don’t give up and find a way to survive the tough times more often than not you will flourish. What sets our company apart is that we will absolutely bend over backwards at all costs to make sure that each and every person leaves our establishment happy regardless of how much it may cost us in the short run.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely eat at Bobs, Chamberlains cigar lounge, Yao Fuzi, Lupe tortilla, The arboretum, FT. Worth to the stock yards. Samuel Lynn gallery on dragon street. Highland park village for people watching. A tour of the cowboys facility at the Star. The holocaust museum, the top of reunion tower for a view of the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Jack Chaplin my first mentor in the restaurant business who taught me how to cook. I will always be eternally grateful to him. My business partner and very dear friend Bob Stegall, most of what bob does is behind the scenes so he does not always get the credit he is due but without him we would not be where we are. Last but not least one of my current mentors Jay Goldstein who has guided me through many challenging and transitional situations over the last 10 plus years
