We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenneth Horne and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kenneth, how do you think about risk?
The biggest risk I took, was moving to Dallas to start a new career path. I had contacted a staffing agency, and advised of a position that may be available. I moved from Mississippi to Texas on pure faith that everything would work out. The original position that I was coming for was not available, but within a few days, I was contacted about a permanent position that allowed me to get my footing, and make a start here in Dallas. It was al worth it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I must say the road to acting was not my choice. A very good friend Corey Pratt, asked me to audition for a role in the new Dallas Based series on Amazon Prime known as #Washed. I was hesitant at first because I had never acted before. Once cast, the role I play of John was a piece of cake. I got to show my comedic side and bring my character to life. All though fun, it was not easy. Many long nights of rehearsal. Individual practice, and dedication to the craft through workshops, and coaching. I learned along the way, life is going to test you. Be up for the challenge.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would most definitely visit Deep Elum for the culture. All of Downtown Dallas is amazing, so a quick tour would be in order. Also, Fort Worth for the diversity.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not have been able to do this without the support and encouragement of Barbara Amos (AKA MOM). You are a true testament to what a mothers love and support can make happen. I want to thank Kenya Horne (sis) for just being you. You are my role model. Jay, Kayla, and Kayden you guys make the machine go! Best kids a Dad could ever ask for. Last, but not least, shoutout to the entire acting community of the DFW Metroplex. You guys are fire, and I can’t wait to work with you all.
