We had the good fortune of connecting with Kennedy Knight and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kennedy, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I began Knighted Affairs out of a genuinely love of service and the desire to play a small role during life’s celebrations. My company’s mantra is “There is Always a Reason to Celebrate with Knighted Affairs” – we embody this by allowing others to bask in the joy of their wedding day, baby shower, birthday party, and every other event in between by handling the potential stressors of event planning. That way, my clients and brides are able to be fully present and make memories to last a lifetime. The most important factor in allowing this exchange to occur is simple: Relationships. As I mentioned before, I built my company through the lens of service; however, when a client books an event with me, I want to know about themselves before I ask about the event. If a couple has decided to allow me to be a part of planning their wedding, I love to ask how they met, how they proposed, and all of the little details in between that make them special. This sets a precedence of friendship and builds a relationship with them. Ultimately, this is why Knighted Affairs has been successful- because I genuinely enjoy getting to know the people who trust me to be a part of their celebration.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Knighted Affairs is an event planning company – There is so much in life to celebrate!
My business is an extension of my own convictions to love my neighbor well and to find joy each and every day. When I am speaking with a new client, I want to make sure they understand that I am not only a planner, but their friend throughout the process. There are countless times where someone has called me overwhelmed and stressed – I have the sweet opportunity to love on them and speak Truth to them.
What sets me a part is that I have a masters in counseling – this allows me to consider not just the logistical elements of an event, but the emotional portions of planning. I recognize that it can be hard, so knowing how to communicate in a vulnerable time for clients is critical.
I have learned that there will always be ways to improve, new systems to adopt, and more efficient ways of doing things. Instead of competing with other vendors, I can look to anyone for inspiration and ways to improve my own business.
I want the world to know that Knighted Affairs cares about people over the program. We exist to ease your mind during any event while establishing trust through a relationship – There is Always a Reason to Celebrate with Knighted Affairs.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would make sure I showed her my favorite places to eat in Dallas! We would definitely hit up HG SPLY Co. and maybe the revolving sushi bar in Richardson!
We would paddle board or hammock at White Rock Lake, then grab a drink on the patio at a local bar, Lochlands!
It’s always fun to check out Deep Ellum and grab a drink or some yummy food at Vidorra!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I began event planning in college and my skills have continued to grow; however, I recognize there are special people in my life who have impacted my journey along the way:
1. My Mother has demonstrated throughout my life how to love and serve others well through hosting, parties, and other events. This ability was passed down to me as I watched and learned.
2. I loved working with Allison at Veil & Vine – she allowed me to shadow her when I was planning my own wedding. This gave me the confidence and further affirmed my ability to lead events well. She has been a sweet encourager as I started my own company.
3. Allison with Allison Bolin Photo has given me great tips and tricks for entering into the wedding business as a corporate event planner (which I did for 3.5 years and still do!!). She is not only a vendor I trust but a friend.
4. My husband, Sawyer, is my biggest supporter and is my go-to guy! He helped me build my entire website (twice lol) and has helped me form my LLC.
There are honestly many many people I could shoutout!
