We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenisha Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kenisha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As a child, I started organizing my bedroom. I played music while moving my furniture around and ensuring that my closet and drawers were up to par. That love for organizing closets transitioned into my adulthood even more as my love for fashion grew stronger.

While working in corporate America, my desire to become my own boss became my goal.  I desired to have the freedom “to do the work that I love and love the work that I do!” I made the decision to create my business The Kloset Geek. My business helps busy professionals, parents and businesses get organized in their closets.

After surviving breast cancer, it was time for a change. I left my corporate job of 16 years and moved to Dallas. After this life changing experience, I viewed my life in a different way and I became more focused on my business in hopes of creating a life that I desired. My motto became YOLO (you only live once) so have no regrets and do what you love!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I help businesses such as boutiques and consignment stores create a long-term organizing system for their business and their employees.
For corporations, I provide opportunities for employee engagement by providing office attire suggestions and closet organizing tips to create a stress-free life as most employee’s transition back into the office post Covid.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area, my first stop to show them one of the best representations of the Dallas area would be at The Star in Frisco. The Star is one of my favorite places to hang because I am a Cowboys fan 1st and the area is fun with activities and nice restaurants. During the week, we would frequent restaurant’s to grab brunch at places like Saint Ann in Uptown. We may try dinner a few nights at places like Monarch and head over to The Catbird after. We would also have to check out places like Haywire, Kai, and Legacy Hall at Legacy West in Plano. Lastly, I would hope for a good line up at The Improv for some laughter.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My daughter, Brittany, is who I would like to dedicate my shoutout to. My goal is to show her that gaining your independence by becoming your own boss is a goal that every woman should strive for if it is their desire.  If you have a dream, you should go for it!
