We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Cordero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I’m a workaholic. I think my balance has changed by learning how to say no, I found such freedom in that. Not every sales/event/mixer/collab offer or opportunity will edify you and your business. Play to your strengths. Don’t try and be all things to all people. I don’t necessarily feel any less busy with this balance but definitely more successful and productive!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Kelbelle Boutique was born from the warm fuzzy feels I get when someone else feels beautiful. We all know it right? The feeling of when we are dressing a little frumpy vs your favorite outfit that makes you feel like a million bucks. The heels and handbag aren’t just the items, they are the little strut in your step that makes you feel a little more confident and badass that day. When you look good you feel good and when you feel good you can change your whole atmosphere. I think I try to set myself apart by make every effort to truly be affordable but fashionable.

Working another full time job and trying to grow the boutique I think is the biggest challenge. I remember my first vendor outdoor market *face palm* my shade tent and clothing rack very literally went flying across the street in the wind. A neighboring vendor felt sorry for me and showed me how to tie it down. You walk it out and learn by mistakes. Learning good inventory habits and being sincere to my customers. That I want those fuzzy “Dang I look good!” Feels for each one of them.

My mom calls me Kelbelle, thus the name of my boutique.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Bishop arts is always a fun little spot there’s several bars, restaurants, and fun little stores all within walking distance of each other. My favorite places there are Local Oak (amazing brunch with craft cocktails) Whitehall exchange (fun local bar) Lockhart (best bbq) and there’s a yaya’s on the street too, $30 for a hour foot rub-heck yes! I love that all of the above are so close together you can just park and walk. I ALWAYS love me some Red River I love country dancing/music.

The Dallas Art Museum is always a winner as is Knife, a steak restaurant that will blow your mind. Adair’s is a hidden treasure. The Rabbit Hole is a near bar with a large patio and big beautiful butterfly chairs-for reals! you often see cute pups there.

Definitely need to see a game…all of them! We Texans love our sports Cowboys Rangers and Mavs. Touring their stadiums is awesome as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our inner circle is so important! I have an amazing best friend, shout-out Raquel! I called her one day and said, “I have a group that wants to come shop tonight and the inventory is a mess!” I didn’t have time to do it. She went over and made it organized, beautiful and boutique worthy. This is just one of many examples of her awesomeness! My boyfriend is always a huge supporter, no matter how outlandish/last minute my ideas are he’s always there to encourage me to pick up my boot straps and get it done!
