We had the good fortune of connecting with Keionna Lawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keionna, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Through my work, I aim to encourage intentional living and self-acceptance by using creativity as a tool for expression and reflection. Much of this impact happens through my photography, helping clients feel seen, comfortable, and confident in front of the camera, especially those who struggle with self-image. I also share my personal journey through content creation, showing both raw and expressive moments to inspire others to embrace themselves at every stage of growth. I am intentional about highlighting genuine perspectives within my community, especially in marginalized spaces. My goal is to create meaningful experiences that motivate people to embrace themselves and their lives more fully.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My creativity started early as a preteen with digital art, and later photography became a new outlet when I was gifted my first camera at twenty. After leaving college, I followed my inner compass, dedicating myself to growing my skills even when it was challenging. I faced significant setbacks, including losing almost everything during a hurricane, but I rebuilt and continued learning. Meeting Michael Song and John Campbell in 2021 was pivotal. They taught me technical skills, let me experiment, and gave me opportunities as a second shooter that launched my industry work. Beyond photography, they instilled a confidence in me that has carried over into all aspects of my creative journey, including content creation, where I explore and share my perspective in authentic ways.

What sets me apart is being a talent-based photographer who combines natural instinct with technical knowledge. I have always aimed to show my vision and perspective through my art while encouraging others to embrace authenticity. Through both my work and my content, I hope to expand how people experience creativity, inspire self-acceptance, and show that art has the power to bring color, vibrancy, and meaning to the world. My brand is more than photography. It is a mission to make people feel seen, empowered, and inspired through creative expression.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to Fort Worth for a week, I would want them to experience everything that made my visit so memorable. I would start in West 7th because that area was lively and full of energy when I was there. I loved exploring the shops, trying tacos at Velvet Taco, and grabbing drinks while soaking in the atmosphere. The chicken tikka masala taco was one of my favorites. There was also live music and art everywhere, so I think we could spend a couple of days just enjoying all of that.

Downtown Fort Worth was another highlight for me. Grandma’s had karaoke night when I went, and it was such a fun, cozy vibe. The bartenders were welcoming and the crowd was playful. Walking around downtown itself felt alive and interesting. Even just passing by the Bass Performance Hall made me stop and take it all in. I would definitely include a meal at the Cheesecake Factory too. Downtown always had something happening, whether it was a concert, a convention, or live music, so it never felt boring.

I would also take them to Richland Hills because it had a different kind of fun. The amusement parks and adult-friendly activities gave it a more relaxed vibe, but it was still full of entertainment.

Finally, I would take them to the Design District in Dallas for an evening at Ferris Wheelers. The barbecue was amazing, the outdoor concerts were lively, and the Ferris wheel gave such a beautiful view of the city lights. That night captured so much of what I loved about visiting the area.

The week would be a mix of great food, music, exploring, taking photos, and soaking in the energy of both Fort Worth and Dallas. Experiencing these spots really gave me a sense of the creative and vibrant side of the area, and I would want my best friend to feel that same excitement.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to two seasoned photographers who had a profound impact on me, not just in my work, but in how I view my own potential. Being in the presence of Michael Song and John Campbell taught me wisdom that went far beyond cameras and lighting. Their guidance and perspective instilled a confidence in me that I carry into every goal I pursue, shaping the way I approach challenges and trust in my abilities. On top of that, they helped me start my industry work and get my name out there. Michael took a chance on me when we first met, and shortly after, he introduced me to John. They recognized my hands-on learning style, letting me explore and experiment with equipment, and I was given opportunities to work in-studio and on location, in and out of state. Their confidence in me, especially so early in my career, opened doors I never thought possible. This experience also helped me grow more comfortable in front of the camera, which naturally influenced my content creation journey. Being a test subject and muse early on allowed me to explore self-expression in ways that now show up on my loc page and other creative outlets. I will always be grateful for their support and guidance because it truly helped me get to where I am today.
