We had the good fortune of connecting with Keaira English and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keaira, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was simple…. flexibility as I balance work and motherhood and to show other Black women that we can share valuable stories just as these huge agencies with huge staff members can.

What should our readers know about your business?
KeConnections Public Relations is a boutique PR agency that specializes in assisting small businesses, and entrepreneurs with strategic customized PR plans that increase brand exposure. While our specialty is lifestyle and entertainment, we also work with emerging brands looking to connect with their target audience. Our goals are to help your business obtain increased visibility by making logical connections with the appropriate media outlet suitable for your target audience. We take pride in strategically creating content that produces results for our clients. 🙂

A few things that set us apart from other agencies would be our ability to network and form genuine relationships that allow us to make valuable connections across the globe.

I am most proud of our growth. Founded and started in 2020, KeConnections PR is rapidly growing and shows no signs of slowing down.

What excites me the most is really the unknown of the future… meaning that the good work we are doing today and the hard work we put in everyday, are the steps we are taking to set us up for even more success and greater projects to come.

With a background in Journalism and TV broadcasting, I’ve always had a love for media. As I was pursuing my Mass Communications degree, I was introduced to the world of PR. I loved how it was behind the scenes and how it made others shine publicly. I went on to pursue my degree in PR, learned as much as I could through internships and job opportunities and a few years later decided to step out on faith and start my own agency. And now we are here, two years later! That’s is how we got started and are here today.

Of course, it has not been easy. Being a publicist can be a very stressful job and you have to learn how to be patient and find ways to keep you encouraged. My faith is what keeps me strong. When I face challenges, I pray about it first, take a moment to remember that I am STILL here because of my persistence and then I grab my handy-dandy sticky note and start implementing an outlined plan to find a solution to the problem.

I am learning more and more everyday. That is what I love about being a publicist. Everyday, you can expect something different. Along my journey I have learned not to let the word No discourage me, I have learned to have thick skin, I have learned to try more than once, twice or even three times, and I have learned how to unplug and take a break when needed so that I can show up as my best self.

I want the world to know that KeConnnections is small but can provide the same results as a huge well-known agency. We are Black-owned, faith-based and intentional about doing good work.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Best friend comes in to visit Dallas 🙂

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
GOD gets all the credit 🙂
