We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaytlin O’Neall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaytlin, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Before I resolved to pursue photography, I diligently explored various career paths. I vividly recall my mom advising me to assess the skills already in my possession and identify what truly ignites my passion and happiness. The creative avenues that photography has provided me with have been so fun and rewarding. As a self-taught entrepreneur, I have embraced every new challenge, understanding that integrity and humility are paramount in my interactions with clients and in the execution of my work. While one of my favorite elements of photography is the photo sessions with clients, I also derive immense satisfaction from the creative process of editing and scouting picturesque locations conducive to producing captivating and cherished outcomes for my clientele.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Capturing love is the art form that speaks to me the most. Whether it’s an engagement shoot or a wedding, couples entering into a sacred covenant is beautiful! One of my number one goals with my business is keeping my clients in mind first and foremost. As a traveling photographer, I always want to ensure that my prices reflect my work and that I work with clients in all different price brackets. I would say that part of what sets me apart as a photographer is offering custom packages for every client and no additional travel fees for destination photo shoots. I have learned so much on the journey of being a photographer, from software, to properly communicating with clients, to finding the best locations, down to understanding lighting and poses. I have learned that details are important, and going the extra mile truly sets you apart and makes your clients feel comfortable and confident with their photo shoots. I’m excited about what the future holds for my business. My goal is to travel to every continent for photo sessions so that no matter where my clients might be, I can deliver beautiful photos capturing some of the biggest moments in their lives.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in the Dallas Fort Worth area, there is no shortage of amazing restaurants and activities. Having intentional time with my friends is very important, so I would probably take them to a couple of my favorite coffee shops throughout the week and go shopping in some of the downtown areas. If you’re looking for a fun western evening, downtown Fort Worth is the place to be; the stockyards offer many great restaurants, fun live music, and shopping opportunities. As a photographer, I love taking photos with my friends, so some of the best skyline photo locations would definitely be in Dallas. The Dallas Arboretum is also a beautiful place for capturing stunning pictures. I truly cherish quality time and intentionality with the people who are most important to me, so no matter where we go, we’ll have a fun time and enjoy each other’s company.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many people in my life have been immensely supportive of my business ventures. I credit so much to my parents for always believing in me no matter what and fully supporting the different avenues I’ve chosen to pursue in my career and otherwise. I also credit any and all success to God and truly appreciate Him giving me strength in moments where I don’t have all the answers, but He gives me grace that is sufficient where I lack. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a photographer because it’s so much more than just taking photos for people. It’s about meeting individuals where they’re at and being able to be gracious and loving, using it as a representation of Christ. The Lord loves when we are joyful and I’m thankful I get to be a part of capturing joyful memories that my clients are going to hold onto forever.
