Meet Kayleigh Bergeron | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayleigh Bergeron and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kayleigh, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Lavender Photography has been a passion project of mine since high school. I was fascinated with cameras and taking pictures. I wanted to know the ins and outs, how to tell a story frame by frame. My “why” is the heartwarming feeling of capturing a person’s true personality and uniqueness. The absolute best feeling is when a client gets their photos and they say “that’s me?! How did you do that, we were just hanging out!?” That’s always the goal, for the client to feel comfortable enough to let their guard down and be themselves!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m still a baby on my journey in this industry, and I am completely okay with that. I continue to stumble, have creative lulls, moments where I’m not booking, etc. but I think the two main things that set me apart are that I want to embrace God’s creation and capture still frames of what He’s done and use it all for His glory. The other thing that I think may be different is that I truly find my footing in candid shots, in the messy and unposed. We’re not perfect people, and I love underlining that as much as I can through my work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Okay so I’m a Fort Worth native and I don’t branch out of the fort much. I’d definitely recommend some staples in the area, like if you’re downtown you gotta go to the water gardens, walk through Sundance Square, and if there’s a Steel City Pops cart, you gotta stop for one. I’m a popsicle addict! There’s also a really great Vietnamese restaurant on South Main called Four Sisters – pork belly bao is a must. Also seeing the cattle drive in the stockyards is a once in a lifetime experience. Honorable food mentions: Babe’s, Velvet Taco, and Tommy’s Burgers.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I was heavily involved in yearbook and photojournalism in high school. The teacher I had at the time nurtured my love for photography and would let me check out a camera on the weekends. That’s really where it started. Once I graduated high school, there was no way I’d be able to afford a dslr camera as nice as what I learned on. 10+ years later a sweet woman I go to church with was selling one of her cameras and I finally had the money for the body, but no lenses. She and her husband gave me two starter lenses!! I’ll forever be grateful for their generosity.
