We had the good fortune of connecting with Kavon Frazier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kavon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting Built 4 It was a natural progression for me given my long-standing passion for football. Having been a part of this sport for over 20+ years, I have seen and experienced the challenges that come with training for the NFL Draft and the obstacles that aspiring athletes face. These challenges and obstacles were not limited to those aspiring for the NFL teams, but also to those who were faced with a less glamorous path to get there.
As I progressed in my career, I realized that I wanted to make a difference in the lives of these athletes and provide them with the resources they needed to achieve their dreams. Having faced the struggles of five injuries, that ultimately led to five surgeries during my six-year NFL career, I knew the importance of medical resources that could help athletes restore and rehab their bodies to success. I wanted to create a space for athletes that would value them at all stages of their careers. The level of vulnerability an injury leaves an athlete, especially at the stage of their professional career, is the bridge I wanted to build.
Built 4 it is that space. It is a place where young athletes can train with inspiration, collegiate athletes can train with no limitations, professional athletes can train to sustain a healthy career, and adults can come train hungry to get better as individuals day after day. It was my motivation to make a difference for other athletes that led me to create Built 4 It, and I am proud of what we have achieved so far in helping athletes achieve their dreams.
What should our readers know about your business?
Built 4 It is a people-oriented brand and business that prioritizes its culture over everything else. We are proud of the family atmosphere we have created when you walk through the door, where everyone cares about what they do every single day. Our training and medical team is among the best in Texas and the country. Our specialization in sports therapy is unique, as we prioritize not just the performance of athletes but also their physical well-being from a medical perspective. Our comprehensive medical team is composed of a full physical therapy team, a chiropractor, and a massage therapist on staff. We are proud of our achievements and believe that our results speak for themselves. Although we have faced industry hurdles, we have overcome them by prioritizing people and relationships. We believe that this focus is what will continue to allow us to be successful.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love North Dallas and how quickly it’s growing. The people and the places are constantly changing and it makes it a very exciting place to be a part of. I enjoy the Cowboys Club in Frisco at The Star. Roots and Water Wine Club is a great spot to network and enjoy unique wine. Park House Dallas Social Club is also an amazing place to meet people, dine, and enjoy the diversity of Dallas. I enjoy spending time at my church in Frisco, Cadence Church. Two of my favorite hobbies are golfing and real estate and there are several great places throughout North Dallas to experience both, including PGA Headquarters.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am truly blessed to have some amazing people in my life who have given me the support, guidance, and mentorship I needed to create Built 4 It. First and foremost, I must acknowledge God for His constant guidance and support. Everything I have achieved so far is accredited to Him, and I know that I can always rely on Him to help me navigate my journey successfully.
My mom is another person who has been a source of strength and resilience in my life. Her battle with multiple sclerosis has shown me how to persevere in life and find true joy in life’s trials. She serves as an example of how to keep moving forward, even in the face of adversity.
My wife is my biggest supporter, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without her unconditional encouragement and support. She has been with me every step of the way, from my days as an NFL player to my current role as a CEO and entrepreneur. With three little girls at home, she keeps the machine running and is a vital part of my success.
Mr. VanGessel, CEO of Rockford Construction, has been a great mentor to me. He has been a father figure and a source of inspiration in my journey. His guidance and support have been invaluable as I develop my strategy as a CEO and entrepreneur. I am grateful for his mentorship, and I know that I have learned a lot from him.
Overall, I feel fortunate to have such amazing people in my life. They have given me the support that I needed to create Built 4 It, and I owe them a debt of gratitude. I know that I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
