We had the good fortune of connecting with Katrina Johnson and Madelysse Arenas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katrina and Madelysse, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
For years we have planned special occasions for family and friends, from birthdays and baby showers to bachelorettes and weddings. We both love watching all the details come together to make someone’s day special. So the idea to turn that passion into our very own business has come from the encouragement of those closest to us. Starting T & M Events has given us a space to continue having fun with creativity while getting to meet other locals and help bring their event ideas to life.
What should our readers know about your business?
To be quite honest it took a couple years for us to get the courage to actually go out on our own. That’s what we are the most proud of – betting on ourselves against all odds! Being a new business you face all the challenges as one can imagine but when you have a solid support system like we do that goes the extra mile it means everything. Especially in this age of social media where one share, like, comment can make a world’s difference it’s so important to have a community behind you that’s believes in your brand as much as you do. One of the most important things that we’ve learned so far is that with confidence and determination anything is possible. Betting on yourself and putting in the work will always yield results. It’s a grind but the success on the other end will always be worth it. Life is too short to not be pursing your passion and doing what you love. Our brand is all about making people’s dreams and ideas come to life. We just want to be an example, specifically to the younger generation that any dream or goal you have if you put your mind to it – you can succeed!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Lucky for us we get to work with our best friend! First we have to walk through some of our go to restaurants! One of our favorite spots is Goat & Vine. They have an unbeatable unlimited brunch package that includes mimosas, specialty drinks and food! Need we say more? They have multiple locations throughout the DFW! Another spot we’ve grown to love is Coco Shrimp! Their spicy & sweet shrimp paired with their rice and side salad is the best. One more spot that’s a must try in DFW is Cris & John’s. If you love trying fusion places this will be your new go to spot. The Vietnamese and Mexican fusion food is some of the best we’ve had. From their giant deep fried pho to their kimchi fries you can’t go wrong with any of their menu items!
Now that you’re stuffed we need to walk some of those calories off! The Dallas Farmers Market and Art Park at Trinity Groves are two spots that are perfect for that weekend vibe. When the sun is shining and the weather is nice they are such a vibe! A newer attraction we’ve recently found is the water light show called Illuvia at Epic Central in Grand Prairie. You can catch this show every night at 4 different show times running from 7:30-10:30PM. They’ve recently extended their show times for fall so perfect for a family fun night!
And last but certainly not least our favorite place for a pregame turn up is shot cellar in Fort Worth! They have an huge selection of different shots as well as a wheel that can be spun for a shot suprise if you’re feeling adventurous!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would love to dedicate our shout out to all of our family and friends! Without their love and support we would never be able to do what we love! They mean everything to us.
