We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Wallace and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katie, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
As I’m still in the beginning stages of building my business, work-life balance can be a bit of a challenge. From the start, I’ve been a mom and wife, so balancing family life while growing a business has required a lot of intention. In the early days, I often felt like I had to give 100% to both, which, as you can imagine, was exhausting.
What I’ve learned is that balance isn’t about being perfect at everything—it’s about being present where you need to be at any given time. Some weeks are more family-focused, and other times, my business demands more of my energy. I’ve become better at setting boundaries, learning to prioritize, and making sure I don’t lose sight of why I started this journey in the first place—both to build a fulfilling business and to create a life that works for me and my family.
I’m still figuring out my rhythm, but being mindful of the balance has helped me grow both personally and professionally.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My photography isn’t just about taking pictures; it’s about capturing the true personality of each individual in a way that helps them see themselves in a new light. I’ve always been passionate about creating images that feel authentic and make my clients feel empowered. Whether it’s personal branding, headshots, or team photos, I love that my work allows people to put their best foot forward, both personally and professionally.
What sets me apart is my focus on building relationships with my clients and really understanding their story. I don’t just show up to take a photo—I work with them to create images that reflect who they truly are. I take pride in the detailed planning, listening closely to their needs, and making sure each session is fun and relaxed so that their personality shines through. It’s a collaborative process, and I believe that’s why my clients trust me to capture their most authentic selves.
Getting to where I am today professionally hasn’t been easy. I’m still in the early stages of building my business, and it’s definitely had its challenges. But what has kept me going is the support from my family and entrepreneur friends, along with the lessons I’ve learned about perseverance and staying true to my vision. One of the biggest things I’ve learned is to trust the process and to understand that success takes time. You can’t rush building a brand that truly resonates with people.
What I want the world to know about my brand is that it’s about more than just beautiful photos. It’s about helping people feel confident and empowered, whether they’re stepping into the professional world or simply looking for a new way to see themselves. My story is one of authenticity, trust, and creativity, and I bring that to every session I do.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely couldn’t be where I am today without the incredible support system I’ve had along the way. First, my husband and daughter have been my biggest cheerleaders. They’ve been patient, encouraging, and understanding, especially when I’ve had to balance family time with building my business.
I also owe a lot to my entrepreneur friends, who have been there through all the ups and downs of starting something from the ground up. It’s amazing to have a community of like-minded people who get the challenges and celebrate the wins with you.
Lastly, I want to shout out to a book that’s really impacted my mindset as an entrepreneur: Get Rich, Lucky Bitch by Denise Duffield-Thomas. It’s helped me break through money blocks and embrace abundance in both my business and personal life. It’s a game-changer for any woman in business.
