We had the good fortune of connecting with Kassy Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kassy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was so excited! I knew it was the best thing I could do for our family. I knew that I would have to work harder than ever before to make it work, but the reward would be everything every year. I push myself a little bit harder to be the best that I can be and for my customers.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I like to think of myself as a one stop shop, but how do you say that I feel like I can look at any one piece of furniture or fabric or wall or floor and see something completely different than anybody else I love to take a piece of furniture that someone’s left on the curb, and turn it into something beautiful again And put a twist on it that no one‘s ever seen. I love to design my own fabric with my artwork and make pillows and headbands. I’ve helped build tiny homes. I did a little school house for my daughter I guess I never really say no to a project. I’m most proud of myself for never giving up because trusting me it’s been difficult. My daughter has had not the easiest road and I’ve still continue to push through for my business and her and my other little girl. I’m proud that I have a loyal customers that go with me everywhere I go to events And call me first for a project or a job. I’m proud that my family always supports me and is there for me even if I fall I’m proud of the relationships that I’ve built with people because I love people more than anything. And getting where I am today was not easy by any means, I lived in a tiny apartment, working on projects on the balcony to living on a farm with a shop, and all the tools under the sun, but I didn’t have that in the beginning I had to work so hard to get where iam today.. that still comes with challenges so many times I wanted to give up, but I had so many people in my corner that they almost wouldn’t allow it. I met this lady that moved here from California and I was right at the end of just throwing in the towel, and I literally did so many pieces of furniture for her. I painted her whole entire porch all the furniture for her daughter hosted a birthday party and did all the props, and if it would’ve been for her at that particular time in my business, I would’ve given up I don’t even think she knows that. Shout out to Becca . some of the lessons that I’ve learned along the way is not to underestimate myself and I’m stronger than what I think and even when I think that I can’t build it or paint it, or fix it or repair it if I step away for a couple hours I can do it lol something else I’ve learned is never to give up what I want people to know is anything is possible, be kind to people smile makes a world of difference for some people

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Most definitely, my brothers I got custody of them at a very young age and I started my business for them to show them that they can do anything that they set they’re mine to do then later I had children of my own and named my business after them which is Sophia my oldest child and Stella which is my youngest child
