Meet Kasey | Photographer: Specializing in Underwater Portraiture and Family Photography

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kasey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kasey, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Art has been in my blood since I was born. It is story telling at its finest!
It started with coloring books and paint, evolved into pursuing a Theatre Degree in Technical Theatre, becoming a Theatre Director at the high school level, and then becoming a creative Photographer! Photography became my full-time gig after my twins were born. Story telling through color, live theatre, or capturing a moment in time is what drives my soul.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
One Sweet World Images was established in 2011, and we launched what we have become known for, underwater portraiture in 2015. We are a family run business are so proud of that! Our story began with specializing in senior portraiture as I was a high school teacher and loved being part of their senior story! Well, and what do you know, those seniors got engaged and moved our business into the wedding world and eventually they graduated into being parents and moved us into that space!
Still, something was missing, I missed my time in the scene shop with my teens, so we created a senior VIP team in 2014 to take the senior journey with them and help tell their senior story. I recruited 10 amazing stories to have “group shoots” in addition to their senior portraits. It was loads of fun and we still have an annual team!
2015 is when we decided to “try out” underwater portraiture! I asked the senior team if they would like to give it a shot and they were all about it! It has been a long journey with this side of the business – opening and underwater business in north Texas is not a common thing! LOL! There has been so much learning as well – what colors pop, what fabrics flow, what props are going to work, float, break apart – the list goes on. The difference in editing style has been unique and taken lots of classes as well as trial and error. It is an ever-evolving art that is for sure!
We are very proud of our creative art above and below water. If we can give our clients a fun experience with a boutique bow on top, we have given them an unforgettable memory. If they come back in the future, they are part of the family, which is our goal – to tell their story, because it is the greatest story ever told.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
DFW has it all!! It’s funny because these are also some of my favorite spots to shoot!! We have family and friends that come from all over the country, and these are some of our favorites to share with them!
Arts District of Dallas – Lunch in Klyde Warren Park and a show at Dallas Theatre center, I love how intimate this space is!
Stockyards – No guest can miss the cattle drive or some delicious fun at H3! If a quick lunch with a band and nice weather, Love Shack is a must! Super nice weather and a hankering for margaritas? Joe T’s is the jam!
Bishop Arts – oh what a treat! All the shopping and my absolute love to dine spot is hands down Paradiso
Founders Row, Midlothian – this has become such a special place to me. It is in town for us and so cool! Historic mansions and a church brought in from all over the state and turned into boutiques and restaurants! I personally cannot get enough of Wilson’s Seafood!
Cassaro Winery – Live music, beautiful landscape, fire pits and fun for the whole family! Oh, and yummy wine of course!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout out to my incredible husband Matt! He met me in 10th grade on the set of “Bye, Bye Birdie” and though we did not date in high school, he knew what he was getting into 10 years after we graduated and went on our first date! He has helped me build two theatre programs, built props, painted, washed costumes: all the theatre grit! When we were sitting on the beach in St. Lucia and I was reading Bethenny Frankel’s, “A Place of Yes” and said I wanted open a photography business and go back to school for classes – he said do it! After we had our twins, I wanted to be a mom and go full time with our business and he said, “Do it!” He fly’s my drone, helps me build props, keeps our underwater studio clean, is always there for breakdown when we are at dance studios, and keeps me laughing on the challenging days! He also gave me the best thangs in my life, our twins. Now at 11 years old, they are part of the business, so shout out to them too!! They help me on shoots, set up and break down on location, run our tables on location teaching parents how to register and have become iatrical additions to our business!
