We had the good fortune of connecting with Karla and Fatima Aguilar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karla and Fatima, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My sister and I worked at a local snow cone stand one summer and one day we were sadden by the news that it was going to be sold. Our fun summer job was gone. When we broke the news to our parents, our Dad (jokingly) said “Find a snow cone stand and I will buy it for you.” Little did he know we actually would find a stand and he would be buying us the most expensive gift for a 16 and 13 year old. 2017 was our opening year and we were so thrilled to finally start selling our snow cones. We came up with so many different flavors and toppings. We wanted to create a place where everyone can customize their snow cone.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our flavors and our ice sets us apart from others. This is what keeps our customers coming back. It is the most fluffiest, soft, and smooth ice you will ever have. It almost feels like snow!

We have over 50 flavors to choose from. We incorporated our Mexican- American culture into the flavors and toppings. We have Mangonadas, Piccadillys, chamoy, Tajin, and tamarindo candy on our menu. Our most unique topping is the popping boba which are these pearl like balls filled with strawberry, mango, and many more tasty flavors. This topping was inspired by our youngest sister Abby.

Owning a business is not easy. You have to show up whether or not you have customers and being consistency is key. The snow cone season starts in May and ends about mid September. Throughout those months it is nothing but hard work to make sure we have all of our supplies stocked up. It can be challenging but we do it because we love making snow cones.

Every snow cone we create we do it with love. We want it to be the best snow cone ever. We want our customers to be able to enjoy a cool treat on a hot summer day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First we would take our friend to the stand. There we would make them a snow cone and show them how it is made. Then we would take them around the Stockyards. The Stockyards is a must see in Fort Worth. It has plenty of great food, history, shopping, and night life. We would also watch the rodeo and even go dancing at Billy Bobs. After we would go to our go-to taco truck, Taqueria Munoz.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This shoutout is dedicated to Lucy and Carlos Aguilar (Mom and Dad) and our amazing customers. Our parents have always encouraged us to work hard and chase our dreams. Our dad does our maintenance and our mom manages our finances. They are the backbone of this business and we could not do it without them. Our amazing customers are the reason we are here today! Our customers always show up every season and stay loyal to us. We have customers that drive 20-30 minutes just to come get a snow cone. We have seen customers get married, expand their families, and achieve other milestones. It is such a good feeling knowing that others can enjoy a refreshing snow cone with their loved ones.
