Meet Kariny Flores | Chapter Director- Eliana’s Love

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kariny Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kariny, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
There is no giving up, I promised my daughter that I would continue to fight her battle and be her voice and that is exactly what I’m doing and why I started her Chapter with The Cure Starts Now. She set the standards high on bravery, fought the toughest battle and never gave up and we won’t either until we find a cure.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My full time job is as an attendance clerk for an elementary school, which is something I love! I work with some of the most amazing people that have been my biggest supporters in all that I do. Starting our daughter’s chapter with CSN was something we prayed on for a while, but knew we had to do something to not only raise awareness but help fund pediatric brain cancer research. I also love to volunteer with A Wish With Wings, they are a non profit that grants wishes to little texans fighting hard battles, they did our daughter’s snowy wish day in May and it is something we’ll forever cherish. She will forever be my reason why I fight, my reason why I encourage everyone to get involved and join the battle against childhood cancer. I’ve learned from this journey that although my life didn’t happen in the way I dreamed or hoped, it happened to teach and guide me in the way I needed. Grief brings so much anger, and My husband and I fuel from that anger to help do good and give families some sense of hope.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’ve recently actually hosted a fundraiser night at Wild Acre Brewing in Fort Worth, and it has been my favorite place to go. They not only have good beer but also great food! It’s an amazing place to take the kids to play and just enjoy some outdoor time, so that is definitely where I would take anyone visiting.

Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc. that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?  
My children, they are my motivation. I look at their strength and love for each other and it motivates me to keep going. Losing their baby sister will shape their lives and I pray every night for strength to be able to guide them through this journey.I hope they always feel their sister’s presence and her love for them and always know how proud I’m of them and how much I love them.
