Meet Kalish Nesbitt | Certified Director of Operations

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kalish Nesbitt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kalish, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I believe that creating a positive work-life balance is one of the most important and beneficial aspects for any entrepreneur. When I started thinking about how I could best support myself, my clients, my business, and my personal life, I realized that I needed to clarify what my priorities were for each. I have found that starting each day with something that fills my own cup has enabled me to better pour into the cups of my clients. For example, upon waking up, I take time for both mental and physical wellness- reading a chapter of a book, listening to a podcast episode, flowing through a yoga session, or spending time at the gym helps me get my mind and body ready for the day ahead. I also think it’s important to create space for yourself and your work. For me, this looks like getting myself ready for the day, grabbing my coffee, and heading into my office space so that I stay feeling physically present in my work. Boundaries are important, so I try to stick to them by implementing a solid schedule that defines when I work internally on my administration and externally with client experiences. I have found that holding intentional space for the various aspects of my life and the lives of my clients enables me to uphold a strong work-life balance which ultimately enables me to bring my best self to my business.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a Certified Director of Operations, I partner with online businesses to alleviate overwhelm by providing strategic planning, operations, and launch project management. I’m basically my client’s right-hand who helps to get them out of the day-to-day of their business, in their zone of genius, and holds them accountable to execute their vision. I serve both product-based and service-oriented businesses that want to make an impact online. One of my favorite things about working in the online space is the flexibility to set work hours, choose which clients to work with, create more time and financial freedom. The road, or rollercoaster, has been full of ups and downs. In year 3, I am finally experiencing a dose of sustainability. The main struggle I’ve dealt with was ambiguity. Social media and technology have been a gateway for distraction. Comparison crept in and the thoughts of just wanting to play it safe and “get a real job” often showed up. I would sometimes get pulled away from my passion or the reason why I started in the first place. As I’ve transitioned into consulting full-time this year, I’m building a firm foundation of the impact I will offer to the world. I’m grateful for the experience and I feel prepared for what is to come, especially as we advance to the “new normal.” When I’m not behind the scenes of my client’s success, I love to practice yoga, find new places to travel and learn new ways to increase my productivity. It is so important for us, not only as business owners but human beings, to make space in our lives to truly experience life. Our minds become so obsessed with grinding to reach our goals and making a lot of money that we may fall out of balance, losing our true selves. Business is just a small part of our lives. If we hone into all our greatness, money comes with ease when you are in full authenticity of yourself. When we get frazzled or unsure of which step to take, I believe that stillness brings clarity. We must slow down and learn to congratulate ourselves for every step we take then find ways to be fully present and plant seeds for a fruitful future. I feel that 2020 has forced many of us to do so.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
