We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaliem Johnson (KJ) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaliem, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business consisted of a few different things that I wanted out of life. I got tired of working for people that did not appreciate the effort that I or my team was putting in to build other peoples dreams. I also wanted to establish a business where people can have a healthy work / life balance because I know that people tend to put forth their best effort when they feel appreciated and respected. I believe that as humans we need to have a safe place to come to, to make money, have a culture that people want to be apart of, and to feel like their presence matters.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I feel like have experience in different work places has allowed me to highlight the importance in having a fun and productive culture in the office space. I am proud that we have put this motto above everything else that a normal business would consider prioritizing. Do this has allowed us to hire people that actually enjoy coming to work and putting forth their best effort. Starting a business was not easy but definitely worth it. We overcame a lot of challenges by staying committed to the journey and trusting the process, even on days that were not easy. I have learned that in life, if you want something, you have to be willing to show up for it everyday regardless of the situation. Life is not easy and everyone has a path and journey, do not compare your journey to anybody else because everyones path is different. Stay true to your path and your journey and everything will work out.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you enjoy outdoor activities, I would say you could check out Trinity Park. It has a great view of downtown Ft. Worth and you can also rent a bike. 7th Street and Magnolia Street are cool places to visit if you are looking for an area with good atmosphere and good food and live music. If you are wanting to experience some Ft. Worth culture you can go check out the Stock Yards. There you can get some cool merchandise and see live cattle and horses walk the streets. We also have Six Flags of Arlington and Hurricane Harbor Water Park just 15 minutes away from Ft. Worth. Dallas is an additional 15 minutes beyond that, where the Texas State Fair takes place which brings millions of people from all over the world.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and inner circle has always supported everything I’ve done in life regardless if they felt certain things weren’t beneficial to my end goal. This support is important to mental health and drive. I also appreciate everyone that I’ve come in contact with along this journey whether good or bad because everyone in life plays a part in the decision that are made. You can always learn something from someone and vice versa. Being open minded has allowed me to keep a clear mind in the choices I have made on this path of entrepreneurship.
