We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaity Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaity, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Some people hear the word risk and flee, for me that is the direction I head towards! I have a Master’s Degree in Child Development as I was going to be an elementary school teacher. The biggest risk I have taken was not taking a job in the educational field and starting a career I had no knowledge or training on. I have to say that it was the best risk that I have ever taken and I am extremely proud of how far I have come in my business in just a year.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a photographer who focuses on lifestyle and portraiture photography. I love to be my clients hype woman behind the camera, I feel that this is important when being a photographer as they trust you to capture them in their best moment. My goal is to make sure I build a connection and friendship with my clients, I want them to feel comfortable and safe when they have a photoshoot with me. Being where I am today was not easy, there were many days of tears and wanting to give up thinking my work would never be good enough. The biggest lesson I have learned was to NOT compare myself and my work to others. I am my own creative individual and I should be proud of my own accomplishments no matter how big or small. I want the world to know that no matter what dream you have, go for it. I have struggled with mental health for years and thought that I would never be able to be successful and I would have to settle in life; its not true. Everyone deserves to do what makes their heart soar. GO FOR IT!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have only lived in Dallas for about a month and still have a lot of places to explore and see. Even though I have only been here a month, I absolutely love it. I would recommend the XOXO dining room, it is absolutely stunning and very chic.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When I started photography, I was really inspired by Walid Azami, a photographer and creative director. Walid is not only amazing in what he does creatively, he also is amazing at supporting other photographers and helping us be successful when it comes to running our own businesses. I have to also shout out my family for being so supportive when it comes to my dreams, they never doubted me and have watched me grow from the very beginning. I am so lucky to be able to have support and love throughout my journey,
