We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin Rasco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justin, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
From a young age. I had always been interested in photography and videography and loved making personal films – highlighting trips I’ve gone on or capturing special moments. I vividly remember it was a trip I took with three of my closest friends to Napa, California and I put together a video of the experience we had there. After I completed it, I was watching it along with some of the first videos I ever made and saw just how far I’d come in the quality of these and it just got me thinking “hmm I wonder if I could monetize something like this.” It was something I found complete joy in doing – reliving these precious moments. I wanted to take a step in Faith in what I felt the Lord was calling me to do at that time (hence the name) and Mustard Seed was born!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I just feel like I’m a serial entrepreneur by heart, I have always loved starting new projects and Mustard Seed was just the beginning. After growing in that arena, I saw more and more need for quality media and marketing in the real estate sector. While Mustard Seed is still an active business, I have shifted that passion project to being more of a holdings company for other projects and with that, bought Vertical Media Co. which is all-things realty marketing. Vertical now serves as our specialty and “bread and butter” if you will.

There’s LOTS to learn in starting, running, & maintaining something successful and “easy” it has not been but I’m extremely proud of the relationships I’ve built along the way, and those along the way that we’ve employed that have helped Mustard Seed and Vertical get to where it today.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve been in the DFW area my whole life and I feel like theres still so much I’ve not had the chance to experience however, Downtown Grapevine has to be one of my favorites. It seems like theres just a culture shift in that area and they have so many unique and fun events to be apart of. I cant go without mentioning Esparzas, or Chez Fabien to the events like Main Street Fest. Super fun atmosphere

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my wife who has continually supported and encouraged me.
