We had the good fortune of connecting with Juliet Ramon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juliet, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
In 2020 started my YouTube channel, Mama Tried because I wanted to create the content that I was looking for as a first time mom. I started with a video sharing my story of infertility with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and how I finally got pregnant with my daughter after being told I couldn’t have kids of my own. From there, I started sharing everything I was figuring out on my own, and how to do it. What to pack in a diaper bag, DIY sensory activities, how to make your own baby food, healthy meal ideas for toddlers, how to travel with babies and toddlers, how to live a healthy lifestyle as a busy mom, and so much more! Basically, if I’m going through it.. I’m making a video about it. I named my channel Mama Tried because it has no limits! Mama is trying it all, and sharing it too! I now create content on Instagram also so I can share my day to day life in shorter videos as well as my longer YouTube videos. @mamatriedofficial
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
There is so much that goes into content creation that people don’t see. It’s so much more than pressing record and uploading to the internet. I’m not going to geek out on you but, to sum it up, I have to plan out a video, set up the scene, make sure all the equipment is up and running, record the video, upload it, edit it, make a thumbnail, add music, then add descriptions, links and.. it’s never ending honestly!
My content is all genuine, I never accept brand deals that I don’t use the products or love the company already. I am a real mom who has my kids 95% of the time and I’m not going to lie and say it’s easy, because it isn’t. But it is worth it. In the past 3 years I have been able to go on all kinds of adventures with my daughter in DFW and surrounding areas and capture it all because of YouTube. Now I am able to do the same thing with my newborn son and that’s so special to me. Especially since I was able to share my pregnancy journey this time around.
I believe that my success on YouTube is simply from being me, I don’t sugar coat it. I make videos on what I am going through at the moment and I try to make them as helpful as possible. I treat my audience how I would treat a really close friend. I have gained so many friendships because of that.
Lessons that I have learned along the way are… Who cares what people think? That was the first hurdle I had to overcome when started YouTube. I couldn’t overthink it or the content would have never been uploaded. Also, consistency is key! This goes for everything in life but especially someone trying to make it in the VERY competitive content creator world.. You may have to create 10 videos.. or 1,000 videos… but if you never try, you’ll never know!
I want to help any and every mom that I can. Whether that is with a healthy recipe, navigating through wild motherhood, or just knowing that they aren’t alone when things get hard. All we want is for our kids to know… Mama Tried.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area this time of year we would have to go to Ranch Water Events Girls Night Out! This month they are doing fun drinks and permanent jewelry.. it’s going to be such a fun time.
We would have to go to the Dallas Arboretum to check out all of their pumpkin displays, they always have the most pinterest worthy photo spots!
If my bestie was bringing her kids along we would also have to check out the Dallas world aquarium because my daughter is obsessed.
Serious Pizza in Dallas is also an absolute favorite of mine. Their pizza slices are HUGE! Just know, if you order a whole pizza to go.. it probably won’t fit in your fridge, or car.
Babes chicken is another favorite. The chicken, corn, and mashed potatoes should be illegal for how good they are.
The last must do… Go to a Dallas Stars hockey game! They have the best interaction with fans and it’s so fun.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t have been able to start a YouTube channel about motherhood without my husband, Stefano Ramon. He works so hard on running his own business so I can stay home with our babies and run mine. He owns SMRT CUSTOMS in Greenville, Tx that specializes in Diesel Performance, Lift Kits, Wheels and Tires, Jeeps, Trucks, and more. He has supported me every step on the way. Every time it gets tough, he tells me I’m tougher. If I need help, he’s always there.
