Meet Judy DRAMA | Song writer and studio recording artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Judy DRAMA and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Judy, how do you think about risk?
Risk is just an indigestible and sister word to sacrifice. Sacrifices must be made in order to evolve, elevate and propel forward. Taking risk and making sacrifices has taught me to “trust the process” and lean not on my own understanding. The reward is always worth risk if the instruction is coming from God.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been rapping since the tender age of. 8 yo but taking it seriously over the last three years. The sudden and unexpected deaths of my best friend Oreste and youngest brother Daniel pit a battery in my back and ignited a fire in my spirit to live and get EVERYTHING I want from this life.
Once I started focusing on my craft and opening myself to people my network increased and now I’m surrounded by like minded people who wholeheartedly believe in my journey. Being around the right people allowed me to tap in creatively and from that my single “ So Much Love” was cultivated.
I believe in this record with every fiber of my body. I won’t stop until it gets the recognition it deserves. Produced by Teezy So Retawded and inspired by notes of the legendary Thug Misses, Khia… it’s sure to go up!
Getting to where I am required a lot of prayer, restructuring and rearranging of my life along with replacing old habits with newer ones. Since I’ve done so I’ve been able to tour with the big league rap girlies including Kash Doll, write for inspiring artist, receive mentorship for industry legends like Z-Ro, Yung LA and a few others. None of it came easy but it definitely was worth the reward and over coming the uneasy part took trusting God.
Life is full of challenges and some that I’ve faced … I tend to use them as lessons and character building. Some of the things that I’ve been through are 100% my fault. I’ve learned in this industry you have to vet people fully before lying in the bed of business with them. Never be too eager or thirsty for anything… vet, wait, pray but most importantly PAY ATTENTION.
Ultimately, I’d like to be identified as the girl that believed she could so she did! My music, brand, posture, tone will all be recognized one day and in rooms I’ve never imagined. Patience is key!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a tad bit ghetto and I love when ratchet meets real so our first stop would be Faye’s Fusions for a wing AND fish basket. It’s literally mandatory!
We’d also go to Hutchins BBQ for some Texas Twinkies. Again, mandatory. When we aren’t stuffing our faces I’d probably show my girls around by checking out a live sporting event especially if it’s basketball season. Go MAVS!
For night life is tap in with some of my favorite promoters in the city like Big Spain from Dallas Elite and check out their weekly line up. It’s for sure going to be a time!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely. My mother, son and grandparents are my biggest support. They encourage me on low confidence days and celebrate me on the days I possess full confidence.
I also have a host of friends and mentors who never fail at keeping me upright and my head held high.
