We had the good fortune of connecting with Judith Kennickell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Judith, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I love to knit and crochet. I’m always working on something. Friends started asking me to make them things, and one friend invited me to a craft fair to sell what I make. So I decided to make what I love doing into a business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love making things with my hands. I started out with easy things, and would pick up a pattern and work it until I got it. I have expanded what I make from blankets, hats, scarves, to stuffed animals. It’s fun making the cute little animals, and I love seeing the kids with them.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d go to the Dallas Arboretum, especially during the Dallas Blooms. Out to eat at local restaurants near me.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom first taught me to knit when I was 10. From there I taught myself more and more stitches. I also taught myself to crochet. My mom was the one that taught me to love it.
