We had the good fortune of connecting with Jovan Myrieckes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jovan, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I know that taking risks are necessary to better yourself and your life regardless of your career. I feel many people are stuck in one position for so long because the action of taking risks can make them feel uneasy. Me personally I know I wouldn’t be where I am without it, from going to castings and being rejected or even wearing something I know could have mix opinions.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started modeling in early 2019 when I still lived in Colorado Springs, obviously theres not a lot of opportunities there so I would drive to Denver every week. It was mentally hard having to drive back and forth and pushed me even harder to move to Denver. Every weekend I came up, I tried to make new connections and be seen as much as possible because I knew I was at a disadvantage not being available as much. Im very proud of the work I have done and the people I’ve met and even more excited about the opportunities that will come up in the near future.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Im pretty new to the area and all honesty don’t have a lot of favorite spots. Every time I leave my apartment see something new, but I love rollerskating and being involved with art. Museums, art walks, and festivals would definitely be on my list.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to my Mom really.
