We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua and Melody Dunlap and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua and Melody, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea of our business came from a desire to see ministries, businesses and organizations that maybe did not have the million dollar budgets to hire the media and marketing companies that are often called upon to execute visual ideas and we looked at it as an opportunity, with our expertise in the field as a small and growing business, to be able to execute the ideas of a client in excellence while still being affordable, at or below budget, and most importantly, establishing a relationship and trust with the client that would make them want to use our services on a consistent basis and tell others about their experience. JMD Productions is a marketing consulting agency that offers professional grade administrative assistance, audio-visual media, and event coordinating primarily to individuals and small businesses. Specializing in visual storytelling, JMD Productions is a go-to source for excellent results. From development to production, our company is here to transmit ideas into a stunning visual representation. We offer an impressive portfolio of professional consulting services that are completely customizable for businesses or ministries. We desire to help clients capture the most important moments of their lives, advertise their businesses and produce amazing events.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Over the years, we have both had a hand in a lot of amazing accomplishments, both personally and professionally and as a couple. Melody has released music as a solo artist to being the content writer for 2 New York Times Best Selling books to writing articles in many magazine publications black owned businesses and church ministry. The list goes on and on. Joshua has had the opportunity to be a part of a lot of major video productions including serving as the video director for the Miss Oklahoma Pageant, live video director for live concerts for artists both in the gospel and secular industries. Joshua is the most proud and excited about the opportunity that he gets to serve at his local church on a weekly basis. He knows that all of his blessings and opportunities come from God and so offering his gift back to The One who gave it to him is his greatest reward. Being able to teach and train others who serve with him from over 18 years of professional experience bring him the most joy. It has not been an easy journey doing what we do and what we have been able to do but we both understand that it takes a lot of faith, hope, trust and reliance on God to continue being good stewards of this business and our lives. They truly do go hand in hand and thats what we live for. The challenges in this life and business are something you overcome every day, you never “arrive” That is what keeps us going daily! Knowing that we have the opportunity to learn every day and be better than we were the day before and keep using our skills and abilities in our business to help and impact others. We want the World to know that it is not about outdoing others that may be doing business similar to yours but to do what YOU do to the best of your ability with your own uniqueness, skills, DNA, passion and excellence. There really is enough work to go around, you dont have to talk down, about, or put someone else down to be great!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We are both homebodies most of the time, LOL, but we enjoy checking out live music so anywhere there is live music is a good time, no matter the genre. We would take them to the museum of illusions in Dallas, to the Dallas aquarium, the House of Blues or Toyota Music factory to check out live music or concerts. Going to Vidorra, a mexican restaurant in Deep Ellum that has plenty of vibes is another great spot. Also, check out Clearfork in Fort Worth for some good shopping, food, and even going to the AMC movie theater in that area would be great!! Obviously, going to six flags is always a good time, checking out a baseball game at global life field or a cowboys game at AT&T stadium and of course a Dallas Mavericks game covers your sports desires. The great thing about DFW is that there are so many great options of things to do to satisfy any mood that you may be in. We love that about living here and do not take it for granted.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We want to thank our families, especially our parents, Curley and Candace Dunlap as well as Pamela Vinnett and the late Mr. George Vinnett, who always pushed our entrepreneurial endeavors and saw the potential in us to be great. They have been instrumental to who we are as people, bible believing Christians and businessmen and women! We know that their prayers, their examples of excellence and integrity are the bedrock of the principles in which we operate our lives which carries over to our business. Our friends, our pastors, and so much wise counsel we have had along this journey that we have been able to call on for encouragement, help and just reassurance that we are on the right track, when sometimes it may not always feel like it.
