We had the good fortune of connecting with Jose Cruz Jr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jose, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was always interested in photography, it seemed like the pandemic was the perfect moment to pick up a camera and start learning and practicing skills. I remember going over the empty streets and buildings, capturing how different the world was at the moment. As things returned to normal, I started working with new people, shooting families, babies, models and I truly enjoyed the feeling of being part of those moments. Over time, photography became my passion and I decided to turn it into something real, my business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I feel that as photographer you create. You create the idea your client have and turn it into something they love and that they enjoy when they watch and see the outcome in their pictures . It’s about creating art. I like to make the best out of those moments, I like to try new ideas and concepts. In the end all I want is for my client to enjoy watching what we created together. I have learned that there’s always something new to try and more to learn. Not to fear the unknown, I have seen amazing outcomes even when I doubted myself. I would tell the world to always try, to give your best, continue to grow and work on yourself, do not give up. My work is a reflection of hard work and dedication.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of the spots of I would definitely take them is Downtown Dallas, sightseeing in reunion tower, klyde warren, walk around downtown. Also take them to the night life in deep ellum and uptown. For breakfast I would a must is my favorite breakfast spot the Yolk. I would take them to To Hard 8 for some Texas BBQ or Hurtado bbq in Arlington. Maybe hit up Texas live! for some drinks and games.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my growth. Anyone that has giving me tips, words of encouragement and support. Also the models that have collaborated to try different ideas and the families and friends that have allowed me to take part of their moments.
