Meet Jordan Overby | Owner of WhinneyWear

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Overby and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My absolute favorite quote is “Dreams don’t work unless you do” – I feel like this is should be the motto of any successful business. I have put in countless overtime hours from a typical 9-5 job & its paid off over the years. This business has allowed me to have a more flexible schedule as well as an opportunity to work on the weekends but still barrel race which makes it feel like a passion more than a job.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
WhinneyWear was founded back in 2009 just as a small side gig to create some extra income. Overtime more products were added to the business and in 2020, it became my fulltime job.
My biggest goal is to create and carry one of a kind, FUNctional horse tack that you won’t find anywhere else. I also strive to work with other small businesses with products that will compliment mine, many of them boss babe owned and all made in the USA.
Unfortunately, there are businesses out there that now make similar products but it gives me the fire to keep coming out with new products and patterns that set WhinneyWear apart from the others.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You can never go wrong with a trip to the stockyards! I feel like that’s the most quintessential to the area – however there are so many small towns nearby that have the same charm. I love taking people to Torchys for Tacos, getting a biscuit at The Biscuit Bar and even checking out some of the awesome thrift shops in the area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It’s so hard to shout out just one person when so many people have helped build this business over the past 15+ years. I have such a great group of friends that I can count on to pitch in when I have to set up at larger events as I still dub myself a “one woman operation”
Of course, my husband Ryan, has been a huge help – by building displays for me, keeping my truck & trailer in safe travel status and occasionally shipping out orders when I am out of town.
