We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan Blackmore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jonathan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’d always been a creative. But as I progressed through my career I got further and further away from actually creating. I was working for other people and had got to the point where I had achieved “success” in terms of the compensation and the “stuff”. Then within a matter of months I lost it all. It was devastating.

I woke up one morning and realized that we get to live this life once and asked myself what that might look like. I had to be true to who I was and the passions inside me. I wanted to create again. So I set about finding people who would pay me to create. Like create anything. I said yes to everything! And to be honest that’s how approach projects to this day. Say yes first, figure out how and surprise yourself when you accomplish something that you didn’t necessarily think you were capable of! There’s no growth without risk taking.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I work predominantly in country music (occasionally other music genres). I create solutions to promote artists and their music; websites, album covers, merch designs, logos, posters, social media content and more. I’m not afraid of a challenge and not afraid to stretch myself. In most cases when something is stretched it grows and expands. It’s amazing how many times I’ve completed a project, which I was nervous about, and have seen growth in my abilities resulting in an enormous sense of accomplishment!

Building 768Creative over the past few years has been part risk, part dreaming and a lot of hard work and hustle. I’m not afraid to fail. When you take the fear of failure off the table it’s amazing what you can accomplish. Every day I work to stay focused on the brand, focused on the vision, challenge myself and have fun!

768Creative is about making great design and promotional tools available to clients across the spectrum. Whether you’re selling out arenas or playing in bars on the weekend, I want you to have top notch design.

I see so many people who work their whole lives, sometimes in jobs they don’t even like, so they can retire and have the freedom to do something they love. I consider myself incredibly blessed because i get to do something I love every day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well it has to include spending time in some cool well designed, one-off spots. No chains. Whenever I go out I love discovering places I’ve never been before. Places where the vibe is unique, the crowd is diverse, the food and drinks are creatively curated and designed, and live music is ALWAYS a plus! I’m a big fan of the Bishop Arts area and Near Southside in Fort Worth. And of course on the Fort Worth side of things you gotta go hang out with my country music folks at the stockyards.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My credit goes to my parents. 100% to my parents. As a young creative they always encouraged me to create and design and never tried to steer me towards another career path. Their support continues today. It was always about me being me rather that something society said I should be.
