We had the good fortune of connecting with Johnny Roth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Johnny, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting my own business? Let’s see, before I started my own business I was working full time and then some. At a steel mill putting in 60-72 hr weeks most weeks. 12 hr rotating shifts. Nights, Days, Weekends, Holidays, Birthdays that place never shut down. I liked what I was doing, moving tons of steel around the plant in rail cars and a locomotive. It was exciting and the pay was good to say the least. However missing out on family events, the never getting used to a sleep schedule was taking its toll. So I decided to take a risk a leap of faith and start my own business. So I thought to myself what is something I can do with little start up cost. I know… Pressure Washing. I didn’t have a lot of experience doing it beside some home projects and cleaning the mobile equipment at work. But how hard could it be. So I spent all my free time researching. Watching as many YouTube videos as I could find. Joined every Facebook group about pressure washing. How hard could it be right? I quickly Learned there was a lot more to it then going to Home Depot and buying a $300 pressure washer. I couldn’t afford the best equipment out there but I definitely didn’t get the cheapest. So next I quit my job making about 100k a year cashed out my 401k and drove down to Houston to buy a 7,000 pressure washer. Bought a trailer, Water tank and some more equipment and put it all together in my garage. Here’s Johnny Home & Commercial Services was born. Still have lots to learn about the industry, marketing, sales and being a business owner but the journey has been great. I love it! I get to go to all the birthdays and holidays. Some days are better then others but overall I’m glad I made the leap of faith. Not as far along as I’d like to be but still on the right path and pushing forward daily.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I strive to do the best I can do. I may not be the best but I give it my all. Im a service provider so I must provide the best service available. Not only the work being done but the customer service also. I want the whole experience to be seamless. At the end of the day I want to the customer to be completely satisfied with their experience. From the services I provided to the price they paid for it. One day I hope to be able to provide as many different services as possible. Making it easier for home owners to find quality services for all their home & commercial needs.

The biggest challenge I’ve faced is my mind set. Like many Americans I deal with mental health issues. Depression and anxiety being the top 2 offenders. Some times I think I’m not going to make it or overthink every situation. Only to find out I am capable and it wasn’t as hard as I made it out to be in my over complicated mind. What I’ve realized as the business owner. I am the gas and brakes of this company. With a positive mind set and a little momentum it’s crazy how far you can go. Sometimes you’ll have bad day or feel unmotivated but I push through it. Looking for the next win, no matter how big or little it is to get me set back in that forward motion.

I aim to be the best all around service provider in all off DFW. I want to simplify the process of finding an honest and trustworthy service provider. Basically you need your house pressure washed… Here’s Johnny. Your windows cleaned… Here’s Johnny. You own a business and need someone to oversee the maintenance of it… Here’s Johnny. Im still growing but with the right attitude and mindset anything is possible.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well first you got to start by having coffee and there’s no other place like White Rhino Coffee. They have many locations across DFW so we may stop multiple times. Who doesn’t love coffee. Then we can go to a Dallas Cowboys Game or a Rangers Game. Not a Football or Baseball fan? What about basketball? We can go see the Mavericks play or even see some hockey. We can go to Six flags or the water park across the street. I personally like Hawaiian falls the best not as crowded. Now for a night on the town. Hope you brought your cowboy boots. We will go over to Billy Bobs the largest honkey tonk in the Fort Worth stock yards. If the night life isn’t your thing some fine dining sounds good to me. I love a good steak house. There’s really a little bit of everything in DFW. If it’s summertime I prefer to be on a boat or jet ski. Either at Joe pool lake or lake Lewisville.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Like to give a shout out to my beautiful wife and her amazing family. They have been very supportive of me in this process. Wouldn’t of had the courage to do it without them in my corner.
