We had the good fortune of connecting with Joe Navarro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joe, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Well It all started back in 2019 where I decided to download Tiktok. The first Tiktok I made got around 30,000 views. I checked my phone and was so shocked to see that I reached that many people! My mind immediately went into thinking how I could spread the gospel to all those people that I reached! I then changed my username to Joechristianguy and started making funny relatable christian content to encourage others to keep pursuing the faith and encourage others to learn more about God. I have no Idea how I got to that idea from just one video getting a couple thousand views! I really believe the Lord took a hold of my heart and planted the thought of Joechristianguy in my mind at that moment and told me that this was the way I was going to impact the community. I always loved to make people laugh and make their day better. And encourage anyone around me with the truth that is found in the Bible. And now I am doing that on social media! And I love it!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I started Tiktok I realized that there was trends going viral. I began to brainstorm on ways I could turn those trends around and make them about God. Then that’s how it all began for me! I think of funny and relatable videos that go along with the trends and spread Jesus at the same time. My mind is so used to thinking about video ideas now since I have been doing it consistently since 2019!

Some of the things I am most proud about is how on some of my videos I took time to research lies that we usually hear in our head and often believe about ourselves. And looked up and took time to find scripture to combat those lies and I made it into a video. That video reached over 2 million people! I felt so proud to help my community into identifying those lies and helping them find their true identity in what the Bible says.

With the type of content I make life is not all that easy. I do have to read hurtful or rude comments about my videos, but God is so much better than all those mean things. And I have my community to back me up and really encourage me in my social media journey.

I want the world to know that my goal is to engage my audience with funny and relatable Christian content while helping them grow in their relationship with God!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If we would get hungry I would take them to Legacy West and ask them what place they wanted to try and go shopping. Then of course we would have to go to church and hang out with my friends!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To be honest, I was known as that christian guy in school and didn’t have a ton of friends, but God used that time in my life to guide me into spending more time with my mentors. I have a mentor of mine named Arch McIntosh that really helped me come out of a dark spot in my life back when I was a sophomore in high school. He was apart of an organization called K-Life that really helped me grow my faith. I decided to intern with K-Life and Arch taught me how to evangelize and he encouraged me to really walk in my faith! He gave me wisdom and friendship. When I so desperately needed it at the time. Arch really helped spark a fire for Jesus in me and I have been running towards Jesus ever since.

During that time I was attending Gateway Church and really loved attending service there. I learned so much from the speakers and gained so much encouragement from the gateway community. I really want to thank Gateway for providing a community where I could worship and not be afraid to ask for prayer.

I also want to give a huge shout out to Brandon and Jen Pogue who own a company based in Mckinney Texas, called Trulabs. They have shown me so much hospitality and have shared with me their wisdom on life and what it’s like to run a business. They also showed me what it is like to put God first in everything that they do. I have seen God work through their business in so many ways because they put God first. And that has really encouraged me in my walk in life.

And of course I have to thank my family for always encouraging me and providing for me every step of the way through this whole crazy journey. They are always the first ones to approve of my videos and to reassure me in what I do. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for my family.
