We had the good fortune of connecting with Joe Brumfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joe, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
Patience. It’s without a doubt the lesson it’s taught and is continuing to teach me every day. We always want things to be quick and easy but that’s not how life works. In this process as an entrepreneur you have to respect the craft with the work you put in. As an athlete, you have to put the work in and it’s the same with this. If you’re not in the gym every day working on something you’re losing a step BUT you also can’t expect every single thing work to be automatic the next day. So for me just learning to be more and more patient is huge.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is BreezeWay Enterprises LLC and right now I’ve got the resale store that you can find on Facebook and on the podcasting side, I’ve got the Black Wealth Under God podcast. For the reselling I just started that as a means to earn income to pay for the podcast equipment and make some extra money but as I got into it I just got better and better through trial and error. With that the biggest challenge is dealing with customer issues or questions, that really just takes a lot of patience to get through. Black Wealth Under God is really where my passion lies, in the finance industry you won’t find too many people who look like me nor do you talk to many. And in dealing with family and friends I found that our understanding of financial literacy wasn’t the greatest. So in my entrepreneurial efforts and seeking to find a way to be of service to the community and the people I love, I saw a podcast as a great way to give away that information and help people as much as I can.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a Funkytown native so I’m biased but obviously we’ll start our week here stay away from the traffic of Dallas as long as we can. Through the week we can hit some of the different happy hours around west 7th. Taco Tuesday get some birria tacos and some margaritas. Hit up the zoo and then maybe bowling but as the week concludes and we head into the weekend we’re definitely making our way to Dallas. Friday Deep Ellum, Saturday brunch at Kitchen and Kocktails and find a day party probably around the Deep Ellum area as well. Sunday we go to church at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship and end the week strong with brunch again.

Something along those lines.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family, I thank God for them every single day. I get so much from them, sometimes without them really even knowing they’re doing anything. I put a post up they are the ones who I can trust to like or repost something. When I put out content, I look to them to really give me the feedback I’m looking for because I can tell in their responses if it’s good or not. Without them I don’t know if I’d be doing the things I’m doing now. They provide the inspiration, mentorship and support I need to continue try to do what God has called me to do.
