Meet Joe Atkins | Real Estate Broker and Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joe Atkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joe, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started my own real estate business back in 2013, my thought process was that I wanted a family type atmosphere with a boutique real estate brokerage. I had worked with a larger brokerage previously where most of the agents didn’t know each other, I told myself I wanted to be a part of something where the agents all know each other and are also willing to help each other out.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I would say what sets me apart from others is that I am always here to help people, weather its Realtors that work at other brokerages, or trying to teach a friend or client on how to become a real estate investor, I am always willing to help people! When I started Joe Atkins Realty, I wanted this to be a family style boutique brokerage where agents were willing to help each other. The tag line selling lifestyles and dreams is something I believe in, when I am selling real estate I do believe people need to buy and really think about their lifestyle when considering where they are buying, and for most buyers you are fulfilling a dream on the home that you are buying!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If your best friend is coming to Dallas, you have to take them out to experience some of the best food in the country. I would probably say a stop at Lockhart BBQ or Pecan Lodge would be on the calendar, I would also think that grabbing a meal at Monarch or Nick and Sams would be in order as well. You can’t ever go wrong with people watching and grabbing a bite and drinks at Katy Trail Ice House or The Rustic.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would dedicate my shout out to my father, he was the one raised me with the work ethic I have and he was my first mentor when I got into real estate as he was a real estate broker himself. He never pushed me or tried to get me to get into real estate, but he was always there and helped to guide me once I did enter the industry.
