We had the good fortune of connecting with Jodi Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jodi, what is the most important factor behind your success?
We wouldn’t be where we are today if not for the members of our team. Each team member has hand and heart picked by us, and they mean the world to us.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We have been in the Wedding industry for almost 10 years now, Neck deep, we took a leap of faith 4 years ago, and I dedicated every hour to becoming a full time Destination Wedding Photographer. I succeeded. We put our heart and soul into our work. It was A LOT of hard work. A shit ton of mistakes. A plethora or failures. It was also quite a bit of getting right back up, and making this work. Changing markets is hard. In 4 years, we have done over 53 Destination weddings from countries from Africa, to Costa Rica with our concentration being on the Caribbean.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was coming here, and I had to take them somewhere, it would be for street tacos and margaritas. That’s my “go-to” no matter where I am. Dallas is FULL of amazing places. including food truck parks ( which are my fave) and anywhere I can get a Jalapeno Marg, is where I want to be! There are too many places to mention, but trust me. The hole in the wall Taqueria’s are the BEST! I would also book a room for a week at the Virgin hotel, or maybe Hotel ZaZa. Both are amazingggg and so Posh!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Kendrick Terrell Shaw, has played a HUGE part in our Destination brand, Not only do our brides love him, but if not FOR him, some days, I would have completely quit. My husband deserves some shine, because without his support in pursuing this redirection, we wouldn’t be where we are today, shooting “LOVE” worldwide. My best Friend Lorena Burns, who is ultimately my biggest cheerleader in my life. her friendship/Mentorship through ought this entire journey makes me want to be a better person, a better vendor and a better “me” period.
