We had the good fortune of connecting with Jocelyn Lacy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jocelyn, do you have a budget?
Yes, I have a monthly budget that includes personal and business expenses. I have always kept a journal to write down my expenses each month, the amounts, and due dates. I began to do this in my early 20’s while being employed to keep track of my bills and savings.
I always put the amount I want to save each month back first and then budget around the amount that is leftover. This is what I call “paying myself first.”
I dont spend first then try to save what may or may not be leftover.
I spend strategically and am very frugal. Some would call me cheap but I call it enjoying nice things with a small price tag.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
SheaLacy Butter is an all natural whipped body butter company. The birth of SheaLacy Butter began when the daughter of the CEO developed eczema at 3 months old.
Instead of getting a steroid cream. We wanted to provide a natural solution to sensitive, dry, and eczema prone skin.
Our body butters are made with raw shea butter and organic oils. There are many healing properties of shea butter including, vitamins A & E, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging properties.
What sets us apart is the fact that our body butters are alcohol, chemical, dye, and heat free.
Since launching, we have faced trial and error. From changing suppliers to perfecting the whipped consistency of our body butter.
However, they were all lessons that ultimately made our product better. We take pride in the quality of our handcrafted body butters.
We are most proud of the feedback and support we’ve received from our wonderful customers.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a good friend came to visit. We would go have dinner at Nick & Sam’s Steakhouse in Dallas. Go bowling, do karaoke, and of course brunch with good mimosas!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to recognize my husband because my husband is a huge saver. This has contributed to me saving more and spending less.
I also would like to recognize my previous employers which were banks for giving me the tools to budget and save. I learned a lot from working in the banking industry.
