We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Steigner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When my daughter was first born I did not work for the first year of her life. As she got older I started to work more and more to give her the best life possible, when she was 2 years old we seized an opportunity to buy our first home out of state. We moved from Southern California to Texas. We have been in Texas about 3 years now all the while working as much and as hard as possible, my husband and I both climbing corporate ladders and making the most of every opportunity. Now, my daughter is 5 and just started school for the first time, I feel as though now is my time to really prioritize and balance my life. I want to be there for every school event, I want to pick her up and drop her off everyday, I want to be able to chaperone field trips and be there for every sports game and practice. Work life balance has never meant more to me than this time in my life. I worked as hard as possible the last 3 years to be in the position I’m in today. Thankfully I work for a company that values my time and experience within the company and is giving me the balance that I need at this time. My husband and I just bought our 2nd house, our dream house and I can’t wait to utilize my time away from work to make this house a home for my daughter to grow up in!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a working mom definitely has its challenges, and sometimes it’s easy to forget that your child is creating their childhood memories at the same time. One question I ask myself is what childhood memories am I providing my child with? Yes, she will remember mommy and daddy worked hard, but she also deserves to know we work hard so she can experience the best parts of life! For us, it’s all about capitalizing the time we have together to give her the best experiences. That’s what Happiest Moms On Earth is all about!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When our family comes to visit in Texas, we are all about the activities! There is so much to do surrounding the DFW area, it really just depends on the time of year! Summer is a great time to visit, DFW has countless water parks, museums and experiences. This summer we visited the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, The Dr. Pepper Museum in Waco, Tx., Hurricane Harbor, The Camp Store with Mickey and Friends, and a few other places! Our family created some great memories for summer 2023!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Back in 2018 my sister in law and I started Happiest Moms On Earth, an IG page dedicated to all things Disney. We were two stay at home moms who lived 30 minutes from Disneyland! Our girls grew up going to Disney at least once a week. It was challenging at times to have two toddlers walking around a theme park for hours but we quickly figured out the best tips and tricks to make it the best time, every time, so we started the page to encourage other moms like us to get out of the house and make the most of the time you have with your baby’s. Since then, our page has evolved to more family fun activities than just Disneyland. We love to share our cool mom adventures and encourage families to make memories no matter how hard life can get because even though it’s hard, you will never get these years back!
